Default Extractor Question

Hi guys I am gunna be putting a sports zorst, sports extractors and flow through cat on my 2001 accent. I've been told I may need to get an after market chip (?) put in after to make it run right. I've modded out Ford I6's with my husband and know what chips to use on them but for the Accent I am lost. With I6's (the ford at least) we didnt need to re chip the car after we put the system in on it, we did have to re tune the car tho.

I dont want to spend the money to get the zorst system put in and then find out I need the chip in for it to run well.

Any help would be appreciated

Cheers
Tweety

(The ? is because I have no idea what chip to put into the car as yet, any idea's on this will be appreciated as well thanks)

u don't need a chip just 4 new extractors + exhaust, runs fine, just
had extractors done my accent, pacemakers 4-1 sounds great and goes better, u can reset the ecu after any new mods.

A Microtech (or similar) standalone ECU would be what you are thinking about...

But the Stock ECU in Accents is actually pretty versatile as all the NA mods are really quite mild...
Just adding a set of extractors, 2.25" mandrel bent exhaust and high flow cat wont really warrant a standalone ECU...

However if you ad bigger injectors, higher capacity fuel pump, port and polish, Cams, underdrive pulleys and bore out the head you might need a standalone ECU...

If you have the money (and if i remember your previous post correctly) get a beta swap done straight up and go from there...
The Beta engine is much more responsive to modding (RPW in Perth will do it for $5000, drive in drive out no problems and a warranty to boot)...
It also starts with bigger numbers (104HP and 135NM, i think)...

Join:
Hyper Auto Club :: Index (there are a few members on there from Bris-Vegas as well)
And do some research...
