Hi. I don't know if any of you experienced this but when the car is at a low rpm (bellow 2.5K), it will make a little "gling, gling gling" noise that sounds like little bells. It will also do that when going up a hill. When shifting, it will often do a TICK followed by the "gling gling gling" until 2.5K-3K RPM and then it will stop.
I'm wondering before I go to my garage if it's in the bearings? Transmission? or simply motor?
Thanks for your input and BTW the car is a 2001 Accent GS. Manual transmission.
Sorry for lousy english, I'm from a french speaking place.
First of all, that was not lousy English...you type using better grammar and sentence structure than most of the native English speakers on the internet...ha.
But anywayyy, as for the noise, I think I know what sound you're talking about. My old '05 Accent with an Automatic transmission made a noise up to about 2.5/3k RPM that's kind of similiar to what you're describing. I never figured out what it was, though...sorry!
*EDIT* I doubt it's a bearing issue, because my Accent only had 17k miles on it when it was totalled.

Thanks for your reply. It seems to be the same thing you are describing. When it shifted gears, did you hear a metal contact making a "Ding" sound before the "gling gling gling" started?
My car has 55k KM (approx. 30K miles) which is still relatively low millage too.
Sorry for totaling your car, I hope you had insurance and you were not too hurt.
Well I have 02 accent, (manual tranny) about 45ooo miles on it. I recently had a chirping noice under the hood (very faint) it turned out that where the piston for the clutch touches a "plate" on the tranny. It's hard to describe so let me try again. If you follow the hydraulic line from the clutch reservoire to the hydraulic piston that touches a piece of metal that looks like it goes in the tranny. (it's for the release of the clutch) Hyundai puts a dap of grease inbetween the piston and the plate. Myne had gone dry and the regreasing of this piece stoped the chirp. Maybe it's the same for you, although not much of a bell sound.

Not when it changed gears. And it was really only in first gear, now that I think about it.
But yeah, a woman in a Taurus thought she was too good to stop at a red light or something...so she hit me in my driver's side door at 45 MPH. Yay. My back is pretty screwed up, but that just means I get a lot of money in my settlement .

If the sound stops with a light touch of the clutch, then it is your release bearing on the tranny. Mine makes that noised from time to time, shop tells me that it isnt hurting anything, but to me, anytime a car is making a noise it shouldnt, something needs to be done about it.
This might be out in the left field but I used to get a gling gling noise, it sounded like a really lightly rang bell over and over. I would hear it in idle or steady speeds but not during acceleration. Turned out to be the door chime and it's no longer a part of my car.

I used to describe it as the sound of dragging a chain.
That description is better than mine. I'm pretty sure we had the same thing happen which leads to what the next quote says which if I'm correct, ain't part of the transmission itself??

I will test tomorrow (I'm back from work and it's 12:46 and I'm tired.
You are right about the noise that "doesn't" affect the car in any way. I hate noise as on anything form my computer to 360 to car etc... They shouldn't be there and need to be fixed.
I will go to the garage soon and check this and another problem which is my motor? (or not) "claking"? (not sure about english work, sorry I'm french) at 30 000 miles. I've had an old 94 Pontiac Transport with a 3.1 that the 3 different shit motor in it "Clacked?" at about 40 000 miles. I hope it's not the case with my accent and that another thing is claking.
I will start a new thread with appropriate title if none of you can assist me with the claking problem. I'll just try here first.
My question is , what parts can make a "clack clack clack clack" sound constantly? It aint real loud and I can barely hear it in the car. You clearly hear it but not really loud from outside. When looking under the hood, I can hear the sound from the far end of (under the hood, don't know word) close to the datch. where the clock is. I don't know exactly where but it was pretty much in that area.
Thanks all for your input , it's greatly appreciated and god bless my spell check in safari OSX!
