well a new cap worked for about a week and then the code came back. Her inspection sticker is about to go bad so she's worried she wont pass emissions with the CEL light. Im thinking we can clear it and it will stay clear long enough for her to take it in but we would like to fix it permanently.

Also, she is having problems pumping gas. I've seen this is a frequent problem with accent's. Where it just keeps clicking like the tank is full when its not. Is this usually a charcoal canister problem? I read somewhere that a new one from the dealer is $180?? yikes!

You most likely have a bad vapor recovery system. Replacing the charcoal canister may help. For now as long as you don't put the nozzle all the way in it won't click.

Does she top off the tank alot. If that system is damaged thats probably what caused it.

She talked to the previous owner and he recommended using CRC Guaranteed To Pass Emmissions. So she did and we are going to unhook the battery to clear the code and then hook the battery back up. Do you know if this will work or not just to pass emissions? When she puts the nozzle not all the way in it still clicks.

Yeah that will reset the ecu. You'll have a cuple days or around 30 miles with no CEL you shoukd be able to pass then.

Sounds like the ventillation tube of the petrol tank could be blocked...
Hence why its clicking the petrol pump before the tank is full...

Cheers
