this car wouldnt loook to bad if you got a stock hood, painted the car one color and took off the oversized rims and switched them to some 15's...and took off the rear spoiler, but whats with the body molding going up to the hood on the front fenders?
That actually is a black vinyl stripe and it runs along the shadow line to the rear quarter panel and widens out with Hyundai above it.
As for what car I traded for it, I traded a firearm. This is in the hills Eastern KY.
You would have to know the reputation of the area, Fueding, Hatfields and McCoys and such. Trust me we are really rural here. I traded for the car, sitting on a road in the Middle of the Daniel Boone National Forest. Thats were it is sitting in the pictures for sale. I had to drive 20 miles to find a gas station that still pumped gas!
I am actually suprised how mild the other cars here appear?
I am surprised, how subtle the cars here actually appear! I was expecting many more extreme cars. That is not something, I have a problem with, you all seem to know your cars very well and get good performance from them.
But on many other site like this, you see so many more radical appearing vehicle. Most are telling you to add wheels, low profile tires, graphics, big mufflers and so forth.

Please understand, I am not offended. Just surprised
no problem, most of us here are about what's under the hood, not how fast it LOOKS. If ya ain't got the power to match the look, why bother right? But in all honesty, I'm sure the other sites you are looking at are probably more of the fast and furious fan boys that are more of the cookie cutter car types. Here, most of the guys are actual gear heads and know more about the inner workings of the car itself and not just "get this u go zoom".

I appreciate this fact, that I have discovered here. I do not plan to undo what has already been done to this little car with previous Fast & Furious owners, but I do plan on finishing and refining the job. I am in no means a ricer, but I am a Racer at heart.
I hope over the next several months, I and all of you will see and hear about this car becoming a fine performance vehicle, with numbers to back it up. I will in the future be racing this car or my 1988 BMW 325IS my Regional SCCA competitions. I have been working this way on BMW for about nine months now.
Keep up the good job on this board, you have all made me feel very welcome and have already been a great service.
I used to run my 98 Accent in FSP, had a blast with it even if it was completely underprepped. 225/50/13 Hoosiers on 13x7 wheels, springs, struts, and a whiteline adjustable rear sway bar do a LOT for these cars.

Probably autoX, but would love to road race. I am probably going to be in odd classes with either car. I don't believe either will be classed as stock, due to modifications already completed! Both cars have headers and are Catalytic Converter deplete. Both have changes to the suspension, my BMW has after market Polyurethane and M3 control arm parts. I am adding camber adjustment to the BMW. The Hyundai Accent, I have not figured out whether they cut the springs or added Eibachs, But I don't find them for this application, I will get it on a rack and see! Both have direct air intakes, BMW cold air intake and the Accent has direct through the hood scoop!
But, to the point, I believe both cars are already out of their stock classes, but into what?" I just am nhot sure and if I am going to compete in unlimited/'modified I have more work to do!
Sounds like you'll be in STS (street tires) or FSP (race tires) at the least, maybe Street Mod (you don't want to be here).
Build for FSP. With the right mods and tightening the nut behind the wheel enough (that last part is you ) you'll have more than a fighting chance. I was often fighting for 1st place locally with my car, and with some suspension development and more weight reduction it is likely the car is a legitimately national-level competitive.
Get rid of the hoodscoop and get a stock hood, convert back to a standard CAI or normal shoter intake (or stock). Get a set of street wheels (I recommend OE) for traveling to events, sell the 17's, and get the 13x8 Rota RB wheels, mount them with the new 255/40/13 Hoosier A6 tires. Build custom coilovers for the car based off of the K-sport coilovers (use their top-hats and lower mounts, custom koni dampers, and I'd recommend 550#-in springs front, 350#-in springs rear) along with the adjustable whiteline rear sway bar. Remove the OE front seats for Kirkey race seats on custom mounts, find an Unorthodox Racing underdrive pulley, and an Apex-i SAFC and get some dyno time. With a few other minor mods to the limits of the rulebook the car should be able to trophy at nationals with this setup if you're able to drive it to its potential. It should weigh under 1900 pounds and make in the neighborhood of 110whp.
BTW, there's the SCCA Solo rulebook

I really appreciate that explanation skierd. I read the handbook on several occasions and just wasn't sure where to go with either car! I understand your explanation and that is very doable, at least on the car level. The nut behind the wheel may be another matter. Just joking, I love to drive and take it very serious already, so I will focus on learning technique from more experienced racing drivers. I have already been watch videos of recorded races on the web. If this type of setup is possible that competitive, I am going to love it!
I actually traded for this car as a fix and sell, but it is quickly becoming more, I now believe it is becoming a permanent replacement for my 1970 Baja bug in the family car stable.
What would be described as street mod, I think that is where I had been headed. Can you describe that to me and why I don't want to be there? You're advice will be heeded and appreciated.
Thank you for your input skierd as an experienced SCCA Racer. It is priceless to me!
Among other reasons. Mark Daddio's Evo is running in the neighborhood of 500whp, I believe he's running the 335/35/18 Hoosiers, and is a really really well developed car. The other normal cars in the class include supercharged or turbocharged M3's, K20 swapped EG hatches, and other insane cars with similar power levels and development levels.
