Default Oil dipstick leak...

ok... after losing a 1/4 quart of oil in 500 miles and smelling hot oil.

I discovered i have a leak from my dipstick were it goes into the block oilpan wutever idk....cant see well cuz damn alternator. BUT.... theres a o-ring and it looks rather crappy... i found the dipstick mount do i just unbolt it and then yank the dippy out.... or is this gonna be a bitch and i gotta pull the pan or something...????? its for the 1.5L sohc... 2002 accent.

and would it be better to remove the alternator to do this? if i do any suggestions it looks rather simple.... 2 mount bolts one belt adjuster and some plugs....

all you have to do is just unbolt it and it should just pop out then go down to any autostore and pick up a new O ring and should be good to go

o yea and as far as removing the alt i personaly wouldnt just more time spent on it you can do it without removing it but if you did it would make more room to work with.

ok.... i took the dipstick out... *after i for some dumbass reason took the alternator belt off....* there is no O-ring and it looks like theres a chip in the circular metal.... i had no idea what to do... so i went to the store and got some silicon gasket grap and put it on and around the 2 places were the dipstick meets the pan/block wutever. after driving around it doesnt seem to be leaking but i think it eventually will IDK... im pissed cuz its using up like a extra 1/2 quart a week and i use synthetic and that shit is like 7.50 a quart. if it fails i guess i will use some j/b weld crap.. but i deff will have to remove the alternator to make it work....
