Pardon my Ignorance. I have a 92 Mitsubishi Mirage 4g15 1.5L which is from what I'm told almost identical to a Scoupe motor. But was wanting to do a turbo swap on to my motor and have a few questions and thought I should talk to the experts. What turbo does the Scoupe run? Does it have an intercooler installed? and how much boost is it packing stock? Also if anyone knows about the 89-92 Mirage is there enough clearence for the manifold to fit? I've been told the manifold is a bolt up without issues. Also where is the fuel pump on this car is it in the tank? I think I might have to upgrade my fuel system also....
Thanks in advance
Tim

turbo scoupe ill let you know by on 9-11-02. i suppose to buy a scoupe motor for my 99 hyundai accent. but i dont think that it comes with an intercooler, but i beleive that it can handle about 10 pounds of boost. what i suggest is you just buy the turbo from that motor.
I was probably going to buy the manifold turbo combo... But incase I can only get a manifold I would like to know what turbo bolts on so I could find one through alternate means...

Why not get the manifold from the turbo mirage? It came with a better turbo (Mitsubishi 13B i believe, the scoupe had a tiny Garret T2), made more power, and most likely had a better manifold design. Granted both cars are as rare as a Unicorn, so good luck finding one, but I doubt the manfolds will cross over. I cant remember the exact year when Scoupes started using the Alpha I instead of the 4G15, but you'll have to watch out for that.
The Mirage only came with turbo on the 4g61T that manifold doesn't even come close to fitting a 4g15 its more like a talon/eclipse turbo manifold (4g63t) I'm told the the "Betas" manifold will fit on a 4g15 what year is a beta series from and to and what turbo did they use or is the person I got this info from full of crap?

4door is right. the turbo scoupe motors are alpha blocks and came in the 93-95 scoupes. it is mounted the same way as an accent and it won't fit unless some major fabrication. if you want to keep the 1.5 that is fine. but the 4G63T will fit in. a little tight. here is a website http://mirage.fateback.com/ and he has done it and has all the procedures to do it.

i give the honest performance facts and if i don't know it i will tell you because i am not some riceboy***** and rip 91 scoupe(flash).
Yeah I am very aware of the guys doing the 4g63t into a 3G Mirage but the cost of those motors are nuts. Then harness. Then it wont bolt to my tranny then ECU blah blah blah I'm going to be in the hole for $3000 cdn by the time I'm done... I thought if I can get this manifold to bolt up and a small turbo push some low boost (less than .5 BAR) it would be all good maybe a $600-800 project... Unless I required an AFC... but I'll see what other options might be available to me...
