Hard to say how long the Toyota Alteeza was driving around Japan. The IS 300 was released in North America in 2001.
The (02) Elantra was released in Korea in 2001 as well. So well it comes down to how long the Alteeza was floating around Japan.

I would have to say a year or more, because the Toyota Altezza was on Gran turismo 2. So that came out in 99 didn't it?
