so has anyone heard anything about, if and when we are going to get variable valve timing. If so let me know because I cant wait. I got an 02 and i am ready to swap it out for a vvt motor or maybe just the head that would kick some serious ass at the track.
We should be realistic when it comes to tuning our cars and assessing their potential; the VVT head or engine alone may give us a slight advantage against the lower-powered opponent, but against VVT that can be tuned to higher levels such as the system used in Nissan SR20VET we will still need work to make up the difference in performance[the SR20VET stock puts out over 278BHP, but this engine is turbocharged and the VVT on this engine is tuned to suit the application of turbo]
When it is released to the consumer market we might analyze it and see if there is any way to create a more potent system, but before then we can only hope.
I'm keeping my fingers rossed bro!:rambo:

Word from a reliable source says that the Elantra HVVT engine which will be out ion the third quarter here in Australia will increase power by around 5-6% only. The VVT system is aimed at making a little more power and torque while also cleanign up emissions even more to meet ever tightening emmissions standards worldwide.
The VVT system is by no means to turn the Elantra in to a 9,000 rpm screamer.
Still, 5-6% more power is still 5-6% more power!!!!!
140 horses stock + 5% more power = only 7 more horses (147).
:disappointed: :sleepy:

Rocket, think about a combination of modifications that might help the VVT to do its job better; might take a littlre research but in the end you'll benifit from it.:rambo:

hyundai tech....waiting to find a good accent to swap.
i hear that the vvt is noticibly faster; explanation
since they can vary the exhaust timing, im guessing the max torque hits at a lower rpm making the car much more drivable that it actually putting higher numbers
