Default best cheap car!

i just watched 5th gear (a uk car program) their trying to buy the best car they can for £6, 500 and they had the ford ka, kia rio, hyundai getz, seat arosa, some daewoo, smart car, and the daihatsu sharade. They ranked all the cars with stars giving them stars for having certain acessories and stuff.

The four that got through to the semi final:
kia rio
hyundai getz
ford ka
daihatsu sharade.
the daewoo actually beat the ford but they put the ford through because of its badge

they reviewed them and drove them around a track individually
liked the ford, liked the hyundai but apparently it had too much understeer when they drove it fast and they absoloutly loved the kia! the only thing they liked about the daewoo was the price and both ppl that drove it thought they were gona roll it

and the finalists then were:
the hyundai getz and the kia rio

AND THE WINNER IS..... The Hyundai Getz!

well there arent many real cars in that price range but i know what u mean, but a program called top gear in the uk put in a good word for the hyundai coupe a few months back and they didnt say one bad word about it they just said how much they loved it and its looks and what a bargain it is.

HOld on a minutte.. I don't know if it was TOp Gear or another British mag..but whenever they have a korean car in those mini pages. they are saying that SOnata is not a great car, Tiburon sucks, Accent sucks. BUt the only korean car that they say good things about are the ones designed in Europe like Hyundai getz, the Daewoos .

Just one Writer's opinion. As many people know, I am an enthisiast to the cheaper end of the italian car world... (fiats, lancias, alfas), I picked up a magazine from the UK called "autocar" that was produced in sept 1996. They compared the Hyundai Coupe (tib) to the renault Megane and the fiat coupe. While the fiat coupe (16valve version) did come out ahead.. they gave high marks to the Hyundai and mentioned that it would be a marque to watch out for.

As they said "hyundai badge deserves more respect from now"

There is something to remember about british car buyers... they generally do not trust anything built outside of the British Isles.. While the Renault was built right across the channel.. to see a Hyundai.. a VERY foreign car.. get such high marks.. says a LOT.

Up until recently.. most cars in the UK died an early death due to rust.. so I am certain that long term reliability was not an issue.
