Default 2004 models now on Canadian website

So the new models and pricing are on the Canadian website. I think Hyundai blew it on this one. The price on the V6 6 spd. is up $2,000 and the 5 speed is up over $1,000 without any real changes that I can see (didn't look too close though).

I am thinking about buying a new car next summer. Given these price increases, I will probably not even consider a Tib and just look at the Mazda3 or a Mazda6 with the 2.3L. I love the Tib, but does Hyundai honestly believe they are going to compete with a SRT-4 or Mazdaspeed Protege with the existing 2.7L engine at that price? Hell, a Mazda3 with the 2.3L makes almost as much power and is $6,000 less. You could turbo the car for the difference and be making some real power.

Anyways, I am quite disappointed with the price increases given there isn't any real performance improvements on the new model.

The highest priced 2004 Tib (GT 2.7l 6-speed) here (US) is MSRP of $22,000, that's with package 11, which includes power sunroof and ABS. I'd agree that it is too much, but I'm sure you could buy one for $20,000-20,500. Still a little much, oh wells.

The Canadian models pretty much come loaded unless you get the "Base" 2.0L model. Hyundai doesn't seem to do option packages here - you either pick a base model with nothing, or get get a model that is fully loaded. The Tuscani 2.7L 6 spd. MSRP is $28,800. So when you factor in the exchange rate, that is almost exactly the same price as the comparable US GT model.

Maybe it is because of the heated leather seats, traction control, and other stuff that they increased the price. I would prefer Hyundai spent the money on increasing the HP on the engine instead of stuff that I don't really care about.

Well, I'm pretty sure the Heated seats are only available up there. Anyway, I agree, it's too bad.
