Default Dealer chiped my window while fixing regulator.. What can I do?

I had my 2000 elantra in the shop to get the window regulator fixed under warranty.. The next day I noticed a chip out of the top of my window, and its now sharp at that spot rather than smooth (=could be dangerous)

I called and told them but he said "he doesnt know how the tech could have done that".. although i can think of quite a few ways! they also scratched up the inside of my door pretty good.

He said to bring it by on tuesday. I want to be prepared.. I dont know what to expect from them. But I want my window replaced! I feel dissapointed.. Can anyone offer me some advice or what they have to do? I want to get this settled.. thanks!

Tell them your fanatical about your car and if they try to pull the "It was like that when it came in" line tell them it most definately was not and you feel insulted that they think you wouldn't notice that on your car. Point out the chip and any number of ways it could have happened, point out the door and tell them you want it fixed, they try pulling anything other then ok we'll fix it tell them you'll notify the better buisiness buereau.

Other then that, just stand your ground

Keep in mind they will likely say 'no' the first time. You'll have to persist more than once to get them to do it. I had the same problem with my windshield. They replaced my rearview mirror and ended cracking my windshield where the mirror touches the glass. I had to bring it to them twice before they finally relented and gave me a new windshield. They gave me the excuses "it's out of warranty" "the glass is two years old" blah blah (the mirror was fixed under warranty 1 week earlier). They cracked it by being too forceful putting the mirror back on so I had to insist they fix or replace it.

Got me a new mirror and windshield because of their mistake.

But they will usually try not to cover it the first time since most people give up after being turned down once.

They have to take the glass out to your do your regulator so they could very well have broken it. keep hounding the dealer and let them think a new Hyundai in your future could ride on service such as this, sometimes that makes them jump through hoops.
