New Click Introduced in Korean Market

More powerful 1.4 / 1.6 L gas and all-new 1.5-L diesel engines
More dynamic look with revised exterior (front/rear) and interior
International debut to be made at Frankfurt Motor Show in Sept.

SEOUL KOREA, July 20, 2005 -- Getz / Click, the most popular car in the Hyundai Motor Co. lineup, sports a fresher, trendier appearance thanks to a major facelift. The domestic version of the new Click was unveiled at Seoul’s Everland Speedway on Sunday, July 10 while the export edition, which sells under the Getz badge, will be shown the Frankfurt Motor Show in September this year.

The Click/Getz has been a runaway success. Since its debut in May 2002, nearly 550,000 have been sold worldwide. Last year, it displaced Elantra as the best-selling model in Hyundai’s lineup with 194,489 units sold worldwide.

Major revisions to the headlamps, rear combination lamps, fog lamps, front and rear bumpers strengthen Click’s / Getz’s youth appeal. Revisions continue inside where there’s a totally new dashboard and updated interior color scheme, including fashionable Red and Blue color packages.

The new 1.4-liter which replaces the 1.3-liter engine delivers 95ps@6000rpm, 11.7 percent more power than its predecessor while torque is increased by 8 percent to 12.7kg.m @ 3200rpm. Replacing the 1.5-liter is a new 1.6-liter which delivers a peak output of 106ps@5800rpm with a maximum torque rating of 14.7kg.m@3200rpm. The 1.6’s fuel efficiency has been improved by 9 percent delivering 13.0km/l compared to 11.9km/l of the 1.5-liter engine. The 1.5-liter diesel engine has been replaced by the all-new U diesel engine and new 5-speed transmission with revised shift pattern. Displacing 1.5-liters and fitted with a Variable Geometry Turbocharger, it’s available in low (88ps) and high (110ps) power outputs with the later boasting 24kg.m of torque.

Safety enhancements include the availability of Electronic Stability Program, a passenger side airbag with on/off switch, and active front seat headrests as options. Rear seat headrests have also been redesigned to improved rearward visibility. In-house testing indicated Getz / Click would achieve a four-star NCAP safety rating.

Steering wheel-mounted audio controls, center armrest for the driver and glovebox illumination promote convenience and comfort for the Click / Getz driver.

Established in 1967, Hyundai Motor Co. has grown into the Hyundai Kia Automotive Group which includes over two dozen auto-related subsidiaries and affiliates.
