remove clear coat on wheels

i bought '92 Sonata alloy wheels, and the clear coat is cracked up
I wan't to know how i remove the clear coat withou sanding it. The wheel is nearly polished under the coat.

Can i use paint remover or it'll damage the alloy?

My mother had a 1990 Sonata automatic.. And when i got the money, i bought a 89 Sonata with Manual trans..
Put much money to get it clean.. I love it

Go spend about a hundred dollars a rim and get them powder coated any color you want.
