Default Hyundai to join F1 ranks?

Heard about this a couple weeks ago-

"There have been other rumours suggesting that Richards is hoping to lure Korea's Hyundai into F1 with backing from Samsung.

There is no doubt that Hyundai does have big ambitions which include F1 if it is possible. The company has been growing rapidly in recent years following the break-up of the old Hyundai industrial empire into five different companies in 2003. Until 2004 Hyundai was competing (unsuccessfully) in the World Rally Championship, so Richards has the necessary contacts.

Whether Samsung might also be involved is quite another matter. Samsung and Hyundai have traditionally been bitter rivals but since the Hyundai break-up Samsung has reigned supreme as Korea's top industrial group. There is no doubt that Samsung has been sniffing around F1 recently but it remains to be seen whether there will be a deal with a different team.

The rival LG company is also said to be looking seriously at F1 sponsorship.

Korean interest in F1 is growing and it should not be forgotten that there is a deal in place for there to be an F1 race in Korea in 2009."

It would be nice to see Hyundai back in the raceing world. Personaly id rather see them in Grand Am Cup with a Tiburon and back in rally racing with the new accent but F1 is still pretty cool. Should make the whole brand look more upscale.

As much as I like Hyundai I don't think they are ready for the prime time that is F1. As for them getting back into the full blown WRC also a big mistake they should go about it like Suzuki did go into the JWRC get there car winning or at least reliable enough that it consistently finishes races, as for Suzuki they will be in the WRC next year with the SX4 and if they are as successfull in the WRC as they have been in the JWRC they should be winning champioships in a few years.

I would LOVE to see Hyundai in the F1 Ranks.... BUT, this is my issue.. You know they will end up like Super Aguri/MF1 Toyota/Cosworth... SCRAPING for the last points spot... Its pretty sad to see these guys go at it like that.. There are 2 races at every Grand Prix.. 1 race for the win/podium between Renault/Ferrari and sometimes Toyota/McLaren... THEN there is the second race for the last few points....

I would love to see them go there and dump a BUNCH of money into it and be competitive... But, with that said.. I would love to see them have a Factory WRC team again first...

I hope they get into f1, maybe they can get a grip and make a sports car. Hyundai would loose some of the die hard bashers that keep calling our cars PsOS.

Honda's problem is that they have the most (out of any car company) Uncle Bens behind the wheel driving like they have a swarm of bees in the car. Not saying hondas are rice they just have the largest amount of ricers and riced out cars.

F1 wouldn't really help most people's preceptions of Hyundai USA. Most people here do not watch f1, we would have to take up driving in circles while shirtless men watching while they dow a cold one racing... I mean NASCAR.

I was reading a write up on The new BMW M3 has a V8 Engine.

In the First Introductory of the all new M3 write it said

*** if you think this all new V8 Derives from the F1 Car you would be Correct....*****

why did they dump the Legendary (M3)6cyl? Cos they made a Faster Better more Economic Stronger Lighter Motor.......

looks like they dumped that 6cyl engine to compete against Audis Rs4 which indeed has V8 and 400++ hp. And you can do better and more reliable 400hp from big V8 instead of that legendary 6cyl engine.

Stay out of the F1, please.. That sport is way to " I have more money, so I'll go faster" racing. This wouid cause Hyundai prices to go up. With Hyundai's new V8 on the market and Hyundai trying to get a foot hold into the americian market. They should look at NASCAR. Get a good driver that with a little luck may win a race or two, This would boost thier V8 car sales 10 fold.

I agree with the above comment. Hyundai should just stick with the Rally Car Racing and the GTCC car racing or whatever its called, I forget at the moment.

If they went into F1 the prices would possibly go up, and it would be sort of beneficial to us though if they went into F1 since there would be more notice and the possability of more parts being available to everyone in more than just a couple locations. But I dont know, whatever happens eh

YouTube - Tuscani Racing 6
Some decent racing of Accetns, Tibby's, Lancers, etc.
