Default My shark went swimming

I can't describe how much this sucks. I left work to find my beautiful, black, 2 DAY old Tiburon halfway submerged on a flooded street. My first NEW car. My first NICE car. My first 2 days of owning it@#&* Water inside was above the seats. Most everything still works. Since there isn't much actually damaged on the car, Insurance isn't likely to do much for me. I'm afraid that I'll be stuck with wet rotting carpet and wet *%#Jacked up leather seats. Has anyone had to deal with flooding? Is there anything that can be done to dry out the seats and preserve the leather?

I'm so sorry to hear that. That sucks so bad. I agree though, if you have damage, insurance should pay for it. No matter if it's a lot or just a little bit. That's why you pay for it!! I would find out asap because you never know, you could be on your way to your tib how it was when you bought it. Good luck!!

You could always get out a hair dryer and sit there for a couple of hours making sure everything is fully dried!

Wow, yeah that sucks! I like Lo&Sho's idea. Definately get a hold of your insurance company ASAP!

I woul be mad as hell if i ever had that happen to me. But only for awhile b/c insurance will have to pay, regardless if it is little damge. Damaging leather seats is not cheap money. If that happened to me, i would be mad at first, but then i would start picturing myself with some racing seats and custom design carpet. But that is not me, so sorry to hear about your car i hope everything works out for you.

Hey all,
Thanks for the sympathy and advice. I'll get the damage estimate from the dealer tomorrow. I'll let you know the prognosis. So far, the insurance guy has been nice and rosy...
How's this for shocking? The heat shield on the hood was soaked. The air filter was soaked. So the engine was submerged, AND sucked in water. It started and ran 20 miles to the dealer anyway. If this thing survives, I'll be real impressed with the Beta!
freddy_00_69 , I don't know how Allstate feels about giving me racing seats, but hey, now's the time to ask, right?
