Bad gear changes.

I have a 99 Auto Excel "Sportz" with 126,000 on the clock.
It's literally a car from a little old lady and is in vid all round, totally original.
The transmission is misbehaving, when I'm coasting in drive below 40kph and then accelerate it shifts into 1st gear.
Also when at higher speeds, again when coasting it will shift out of OD for no apparent reason.
All gears work and mostly shift normally- apart from the 2 faults above.
Seems like an electronic problem, not mechanical to me
Where should I start looking to fix this?
TCM? CPS? TPS?
Does the transmission need to be over hauled?

Cheers
Michael.

I might add there is a check engine light that comes and goes but neither of my scan tools will communicate with the OBD so I can't decipher any codes.
I have disconnected battery over night to clear the computers but this has not fixed the problem.
