Default cool brake inlets

after much running around tryin to find brake duct inlets i was just about ready to bang meh head into a brick wall
the only ones i was aable to find come from revolution race gear at $50+ A SIDE
i know motor sport isn't a cheap game ..but come on .. thats a bit rich
anywhoos.. i was wandering thru the plumbing dept at the local hardware store and low and behold.. there was a set of inlet ducts sitting on the shelf
well they were roofing down pipe collectors actually but hey, they are a polly box with a 3" round outlet.. just right for 3" brake ducting
bit O spray paint, and the look just like brought ones for $25 for the pair. WHOO HOO
NO MORE BRAKE FADE.
BTW.. to stop rocks flying thru the ducting either mount them behind a mesh spoiler grill or place some fly screen orver the boxes..
racing on the shoestring budget can be done :bandit:

Hey kramit, If you go out to Purple Pig out in Moonah or Glenorchy they have lots of kewl stuff you can use. Thats where i bought my wire reinforced flexible plastic pipe. They sell it in a number of different colours and diameters. They also sell silicone hosing, sound proofing stuff and other stuff for industry use.

With your brake ducts how did you direct it onto the disc as ive heard that cooling one side is worse than not cooling it at all. Something to do with different rates of expansion. Did you direct it to the front or come in from the side. And what happens with the air flow when you turn.

after some modding to the iner guard ( little bit of cutting a hole.. dont tell the missus ) i've dirreted the ducting onto the middle of the caliper, from the front. a couple of stainless cable ties did the trick.
as i'm cooling the calipers and not the rotor there is no probs with uneven cooling
as far as turning goes, cornering is not as often as straight line running.. esp at symmons ++ cornering is at lower speeds so air flow is'nt pushed in as much. +++ i want the pads to be as cool as poss B4 gettin to a corner.

if you want to check it out we have another super sprint event at symmons onthe 4th of may i'll be there if you are interested :bandit:

Hey so you compete in the supersprint rounds only at symmons or baskerville as well. Or is it a club day. Im very keen to have a crack myself but I dont think id be ready by then. Last round I saw was at Baskerville some time ago and the nations cup round at Symmons even longer time ago. So sounds like the brake mod is worth doing, only prob is thats where im getting my intake air from.
