Default insurance

I'm from thunder bay, ontario and i have 4 speeding tickets. What would
my insurance be if i my mom owned the car and I was an occassional driver on a 97 tibby. Because i was thinking of buying a 97 tibby or should i even bother because
my insurance might be too high. If anyone can give price quotes that would be very helpful.
thanks:ermm:

Speeding tickets will not increase your insurance by too much.

Yo Riggs, I'm in Thunder Bay also. Nice to see another TB person on here. You're insurance depends greatly on your age. My insurance got cut in half once I turned 25. Try calling Duncan Insurance here in town for a quote. Likely about as cheap as your gonna get.

if you have any demerit point with those speeding tickets, your insurance will sky rocket, especially if you are under 25. Tibs, even the 97s are rediculously expensive to insure. I am a 27 year old female with no infractions and my insurance on my tib is 1300$ a year. that is really high considering my brand new corolla is only 400$ a year and my motorcycles have always been 800$ or less. Funny that a high liability vehicle like a motorcycle is cheaper than a car.

Just as an example. My brother has 1 speeding ticket with 2 demerit points. I wanted to insure him as an "occasional" driver on my car... meaning once a week, no more than 3 KM according to my insurance group. He was 24 and not covered by my plan. It would have bumped my insurance up by almost 1K just to have him putz around in my car once a week for groceries... on my Corolla, he is free.

Tib's have a high theft rate because they are easy to break into and quick to move... they can be pieced out and sold for over 100K. This is what makes them expensive to insure.

IF you are male and under 25, you will find it probably not easily affordable to own one...

As an excellent alternative, I would suggest the Accent... a very tune-able, very sexy car. Every bit as spacious as the Tib, unbelievably peppy, very comfy ride and very cool. Mostly, a lot less expensive to buy and insure. Ask John Pare about his... he has an out of this world sweet accent!

Thanks for the compliments Terri

I pay $800 a year in insurance for my car. I am 24. As for tickets I have gotten a few this year and when my insurance was renewed it did not affect my insurance at all. Maybe ut depends on the company you are with.:ermm:

you are welcome John. I like your car

as for tickets, it isn't only company dependant, it is dependant on many variables...

a Tib is always more just because of it's Sport Compact classification, and if your tib is red, well that is another knock. Your age and marital status really has a lot to do with it and whether or not you have kids too. The severity of the ticket is also a rpblem. If you have just a speeding ticket, it doesn't change your rating too much, but if you get demerits, watch out... I am a 6 star driver, highest rating possible, but with just 2 demerits, I go down to 5 star an my insurance increases. If you have 3, then you are classed even lower. If you have been in an accident, your insurer will let you away with one if it wasn't your fault but 2, even if neither were your fault, classes you as a 4 star driver making your insurance really expensive.

what you can do is call an insurance company and ask for a quote on a particular car. You don't need a VIN number or anything for a quote so just try it and see.

Hope this helps
