Default Duty's and tarrifs???

How much are duty and tarrifs from stuff coming from the US to Canada on

1) Rims bought from a private sale but new, shipped ups $500.00US
2)Rubber bought new from retail shipped ups $600.00US

What can I expect to pay????

quite a bit.. try and get the seller to mark then as a gift.. i did that for my tranny and didn't pay anything...

yeah man, thats what i did for my CAI. I had the guy mark it as a gift so i did not pay any thing

yeah i just got my new seats in and marked it as a Gift and no duty fees ( Sparco Siena's ) payed 1500 and was expecting to pay over 2000 with duties.

duties are not applied to most imports from the US
Taxes however are a bicth!

Anything valued over $20 CDN you will have to pay taxes, or if its marked as a Gift it again depends on what the item is.

on both your items, you'll have to pay GST and PST on the value they used for customs purposes. UPS charges about $18 bucks for clearance services plus a %age of the value.

Yeah i bought some ebay headlight bulbs a while back. They were $13 US but the stupid seller put their retail value on the UPS info. I had to pay UPS over $30CDN and had to pick them up at the depot as they won't leave the item without pre-payment of the brokerage/taxes.

If it's a private sale you can get away with getting them to declare it's a gift. I doubt they'd ever bother to investigate unless it was a major item.

Brokerage fees can be a real bitch. I paid $160 or $180 at customs Canada for my bodykit.
