Thats awesome that you're coming! See if you can get a cheap flight into Toronto. The airport is really close, I could come pick you up. Or like Floyd said, you could go to Buffalo and maybe meet up with him. Does JetBlue fly out of Boston? Cause they have very very cheap flights to Buffalo.

DUDE! Don't fly! Drive up and meet me in Vermont(if you're in Boston you're 3 hours from me) and we can drive over together. It's a CAKE drive from here - go to Montreal and get on 401 - continue for 7 hours. Done!

you don't NEED one, but it helps. If you cross the border just be honest, give them your ID right off, and you'll be golden.
