Default New Canadian Tib = Blah!!

Hey everyone, I was just about to buy a new 2007 tib from hyundai (base gs model, the price outways the options) when I read up in my american Road and Track buyers guide and noticed some interesting facts.

1. All american models that aren't available in canada come with side impact air bags, TPMS, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with 4-wheel disc brakes (which isn't available till our highest model), Anti-theft system integrated with remote keyless entry and panic (again higher end purchase), sport and track tuned options where we don't have these options, included spoiler, Air conditioning included in every model (hmmm...it's probably too cold up here to need this option!)

2. All this for less money than our base price plus the 2nd price level includes the 2.7L V6 at a lower price point than our 4 cyl with air conditioning.

So we could buy the 2007 tib in canada totally tricked out for 30,000 when all those options are available in the us model for 10,000 dollars less (all currency conversions included). I am basically going to a dealer in the states to buy my car and paying the 200 dollar import fee. What a load of crap, plus I will be recieving 1500 dollars off the purcase price because I have a relative who purchased a huyndai and they have a 1000 dollar incentive off all models. WOW good going Hyundai Canada WTF???

UPDATE:
I just spoke with a PR/Marketing lady from Hyundai Canada and she explained this was due to the fact that no Canadian wanted free Air Conditioning, ABS, Side Impact Air Bags, Intigrated blah blah...and all the rest of that stuff that makes the american tib so attractive. When will we as Canadians not be treated as second rate citizens and overcharged for everything we buy. We are 100000000 percent in the same friggen market, if you go by stereotype it makes more sense that we have ABS and airbags in this country (SNOW??). But it seems (she also told me this) that they have done research and if I really wanted to figure out what canadians wanted to have in their cars I should do my own research. I figure I may just do this because if in fact I figure out that nobody in canada wants these features for free I might just have to move to a more intelligent/cultured community such as thirteenth century mongolia (if I could only afford the Canadian Tib with time machine functionality I would be so there...Americans get that for free too....lol)

yeah I noticed that when I went to the auto show that all the prices of the cars were a lot higher than they are in the US. I mean I know the dollar is worth more in Canada but still, its like over $40k for a new STI, where in the US I remember it being just under $30k.

You serious? An STi under 30k US?!

I'd fly somewhere to jump on that Subaru WRX's are under 25k and STi's are about 10k more. If I'm not mistaken, the base price in the states is... 34, but in Alaska, it's 2k more for the destination fee and about 1-2k more because Alaskan dealers suck.

Most STi's up here are around 38k while the Lancer Evolution's are around the same price. Yet, oddly enough, we buy more Turbo AWD cars than most other states. xP

oops!

and canadians also get a block heater standard, and the 3 door lc1s came with rear wiper which weren't on the us model unless you got a 4 door.

i don't think they make it that easy to import a car. the tv show "driving television" talked about that in a few episodes. it was interesting. it has to be a huge price difference to make it even worth while.
Driving Television - Watch Coast to Coast Every Week!
type in "importing" in the search spot, there are 3 clips to watch.
