Over 5 Months for Delivery of a Sonata Hybrid?

Hi. I thought I'd be a Hyundai owner by now.

On July 13th I put a deposit on a 2012 Sonata Base Hybrid at Hyundai Longueuil, near Montreal. My color, Hyper Silver Metallic, was not in stock. I was told it would take 8 to 12 weeks for delivery. It's been delayed twice since; at best, it seems it will arrive at mid-December. Neither the dealer nor Hyundai Canada seem willing to guarantee I'll ever receive my 2012.

Have any of you experienced such delays? Is it just me or are all Hybrids to either Canada or North-America seriously back-ordered?

I finally gave up, got my deposit back and bought a CT200H.It is smaller, but surprisingly comfortable. Plus, my wife's car is bigger and we usually use that one with the kids or to haul stuff.

The CT's ride is more responsive than either the Prius or Sonata Hybrid, it brakes in a shorter distance and, given the Prius engine, it is a well tested and reliable technology. We like small hatchbacks in Quebec.

I had not considered Lexus, since I figured I couldn't afford it, but when a friend recently bought one and told me he paid roughly what a well equipped Prius would cost, I had to check it out...

Got to say, service at Prestige Lexus in Brossard is first rate. My rep. is named Yann. Recommend highly.
