In warmer months when driving through city streets with the window down I can hear a continuous Cricket like chirping sound. Push the clutch in some and it goes away only to return when driving normal. It runs fine and have no issues just curious as to what this sound is. At first I was thinking fuel rails and injectors but it stopping when I push the clutch in has me baffled......the pitch remains constant and is not effected by rpms. This is a 2009 GLS with 5 speed
Release bearing would (most likely) make noise when the pedal is depressed, since that's when it is in use. This sounds more like a pilot bearing or output shaft bearing. Had the same problem on my focus. Check the gear oil in the transmission.
Thanks for the replies......still under the 10 year, 100k warranty so I'll drop it off and let the dealership deal with it.
