GT vs. GLS

I read in a post earlier someone saying that the gt is more "bang for the buck" but i dont really see how.

The gt and the gls are both pushing the same horsepower and the gls is lighter.
I did race a gt stop light to stop light which is a little under a quarter mile and i was side to side with him the whole way on the first run and on the second time round he spun a tad coming off the line and i got a tiny jump and held him off. Neither 1 of us have any mods to are car so im just curious what is the difference in the 2 besides the ugly stock rims on the gt and the freezing in the winter sticky int he summer leather seats

Re: GT vs. GLS

There are also suspension differences. The GT has a sportier suspension whereas the GLS is tuned for a softer ride.

Re: GT vs. GLS

gt has sportier suspension, "rims", leather seat, blue cool gauges  and probably something else standard, so thats what bang for the buck means since its only 1-2K more

Re: GT vs. GLS

The differences have already been mentioned, so I'll just add that it just depends on looks (at least 2001-2002) because you could only get the GT as a hatch, but I guess thats really nonrelevant now with the GT sedans... you can't get a GT in white, so thats why I wouldnt buy one...

Cool.

GT and GLS have same chassis, and the Elantra's and Tib's chassis have lots in common.
and GT comes in Sedans too now.
by the way, why would you come to a hyundai forum and try to diss the hyundai Elantra GT? i mean, you know, isn't saying "the ugly stock rims on the gt and the freezing in the winter sticky int he summer leather seats" a little rude?

Re: GT vs. GLS

no its not insulting them at all. its stating a fact that the stock rims onthe gt are ugly and its a personal opinion that i dont like leather interior for the exact reasons i stated. its cold as hell in the winter stick as hell in the summer. How exactly that is insulting a elantra is confusing to me and even more confusing is why i would insult an elantra when i own 1.

Re: GT vs. GLS

Ya that line "the ugly stock rims on the gt and the freezing in the winter sticky int he summer leather seats" does sound alittle weird. It seems like this guy is saying he doesn't like this cool stuff just because he doesn't have it. The GT also comes with alarm, keyless entry, spoiler, leather stering wheel, leather door thing's, leather shifter knob, fog lights, special grill, cruise control, cd player, rear discs, all standard. It is a good value because these options would cost alot more if you added them on one by one to the GLS. BESIDES...CHICKS DIG THE LEATHER MORE THAN I DO! LOL

Performance wise, there is no difference between the GLS and the GT on the engine. Just a half mm bigger sway bar in the front, slightly tighter suspension, and rear discs.

GLS has on it alarm, keyless entry, cruise control, most people are gonna put in a better stereo system then the stock cd player, the grill is a + on the gt as are fog lights and im a fan of the aluminum wing so the spoiler doesnt do alot for me.

The whole point of this wasnt about the looks of the interior anyway it was about the performance of the 2 vehicles and now because im not a fan of leather seats and the stock rims im insulting them. How is it a jelousy thing if you just dont like them.

I know imagine that a bad guy who insults the gt's because he doesnt like leather interior.
