Heres a video of a recent race that I won on my Elantra 2000, 1.8cc GLS, stock everything but the air intake and exhaust. There's nothing sweeter than beatig the CRXs, Civics and Eclipses.
During the whole race I had to slow down a lot on the obstacles because the cars in front on me did, their cars have a better acceleration on exit but they did slow down a lot on the chicanes.
I had the guy on the Civic hatch already "measured" so on the last chicane I entered a little behind him so I didn't had to brake as much as he did that's why I got out with more momemtum... as a good racer I am I didn't push him out as he did on me (we did banged three times before the maneuver) when I saw that if we continued both of us would be out of the race I took the outside of the "track" he was penalized for anti sportsmanship.
When you are racing you think of everything and when I saw that if we continued banging on each other both of us would end hitting the tires, I simply went out, if I was going to be penalized for going out he would be penalized for hitting me so it was a gamble I took, the judges ruled against him becouse the line to enter he chicane was mine and he "forced" me out
