Default Heater Blows Only On Defrost !

I ran a few searches here and can't come up with anything. Anybody have any ideas why it would only blow on defrost ? The fan speed selector works fine, and it blows good heat, just when I try selecting any option for the vents or feet it don't change. Suggestions ?

Is there any resistance when you move the dial? Or does it just spin? Sounds like the linkage is off somewhere behind the dash. Not too sure what is actually called.

Selector cable probably snapped loose, you can see it if you look up the dash near the gas pedal, it moves a white plastic wheel and the cable is secured with a metal clip. Hope this helps.

Oh I forgot... If its a 2000-2005 accent, the selector knob has a metal clip inside that always breaks loose and the knob just freewheels on the selector. Remove the knob and try to turn the selector with some pliers or something and see if it turns. This has happened on all my LC accents.

All the linkages on the heater box under the center of the dash look ok. Couldn't see far enough into the dash to see the back side of the selector itself. Might just have to pull the control out and have a look see. KrazyMike could you send me a photo of the page involving the connections on the heater selector panel ?
