Default Mini Cooper S convertable V.S. J2

Yeah, so this all started when i see this bloke drive by near my house in a Mini convertable, his girlfriend that was with him looked kinda cute so i figured id follow behind. Bored i guess. He glanced at my car as he drove by and when i pulled out behind him i did a little 1-2 tire chip at maybe 15ish mph. I came in behind him and he stuffed it and pulled away. I was like.. whatever, not going to get pulled over in a 25. So i just kinda cruised behind him. we got up to a stoplight to a 2 lane road with a 35 limit and he was turning right. So i turned right. I was bored ok? As soon as he got around the corner he punched it, and so did i, i pull through the corner and get second and chirp the tires again. Now im thinking that he would pull away and make me look silly. but he didnt...:ermm: it was weird... so i kept on the gas. im right behind him maybe 10 feet behind him.. and... and. GAINING!!! I hit third and i pull up right on his bumper, and LIFT! I lifted?!!??! WHAT?!!??! and just eased into fourth. He tapped his brakes, and i left off and cruised behind. we came up to a light and a run into the turn lane and ask him, 'Were you floored all the way?" He nods his head. "No shit.. my car isnt that fast... what the hell?" the light changes before he could answer. im still lost on this. I dont believe my car is -that- quick. I mean.. that mini is supercharged? Arnt those things fast???:hmmm:

Well whatever... time for another BS debate.

PS, penny, she wasnt as cute as you. Compared to you she was a trashdumpster and you a F430 convertable. :

You did some good driving for one thing. Those things are pretty fast...but not as fast as they could be. And I've done that boredom-drive too...it's ok lol.

And I like the last-minute, ass-saving g/f shoutout...nice touch..lol.

i've kept up w a regular cooper, couldn't pass, just kept up w him on a country/mountain road. not sure if it was bad driving on his part or just weird set up on the car, but he was sideways on a few corners, not drifting ofcourse, but sliding sideways, possibly some nose dive on lift off in a turn. but my lil accent tracked straight, slight oversteer on braking, and pretty much neutral on throttle cornering... very suprised. .......... lil off topic, but i did the same thing in my gf's neon lastnight on the same road and a subaru impreza 2.5RS, would have passed him if i had room to do it safely, from what i could tell, all he had was intake and exhaust on stock 16in wheels

I think it was an auto.. cause the car didnt gerk when he -should- have been shifting. But still.. i mean.. jezee...

I have to go find my G-tech and redo some 1/4 runs. Last time i did it was a few mods back and it was 16.0, and 60 in 8 something. I wonder what im down to now?

Well, if it was an AT mini, it wouldnt' have had the 2nd gear scratch.

With a stick they are low 15 sec cars. So id say

Auto = very possible/totally believable
Bad Stick driver = possible/believable
Good stick driver = still possible IMO just not likely.

:

Now the newer ones with the works package, aka 200hp... eh... very much with the smell of BS and all.

those cars are freakin heavy for their size... a stick convertable weighs 2844 lbs. and the auto weighs 2888

also the new ones with the works kits aren't available yet. the website says they're on pre-buy. and it doesn't look like they come in a convertable version

Well.. 2888? DAM! Isnt the J2 around 2400 maybe? I think it was an auto. it just kinda squatted down and went, no shift jerking. I think im down into the 15's. I started to pull on him in third gear. I think i would've taken him on a stoplight drag.
