Default stretched a focus ZX3

was at the local car meet and i was doing some practice runs..

came back to the lot and chilled

some guy came and looked at my engine and challenged me to a race,

we went to a highway and both in 3rd at 45 mph..we slammed the pedals.

i pulled ahead by a car length and kept pulling little by little around 100MPH..he was 1 1/2 car length's away..

we had another go at a local road..empty..no cars
from a stand still

i honk 3-2-1 and we both mash the pedal..it was a bit of a crapy launch with some wheel hop
on 1st gear acceleration..my car had the advantage and pulled ahead by a car length..slowly gained and gained..he never could catch up and the straight ahead was becomeing a descending curve..so i slow down despite the lowered suspension and new tires cause i don't want to risk too much and induce a snap oversteer at 70 MPH..but the focus doe's a ricer fly-by and whooshe's past me..he knew i beat him and went a little overballs.

now i know what i'm gonna need for a new mod..engine damper

You guys and your wheel hop... How is that rectified? Liz almost got hit by a S10 making a left... she started hopping and traction was lost, she spun through the intersection. If the S10 didn't slow down, i'd be badly hurt!

What do you do to reduce it?

i have 39 PSI on my front tires..besides..it's frigid here so air pressure dropping is obvious.

i know that 35 or slightly lower might help but i hate the mushy steering with the factory air settings.

i'm gonna get a stiff front engine mount and an universal ebay engine damper to rid all wheel hop once and for all.

Were you driving a tib? My o7 sonata eats zx3's for breakfast by multiple car lenths through 1st and 2nd, by the time I hit 3rd there isn't even any point in feeding my 3.3l anymore gas because its gonna take him 5 seconds just to catch up anyway.

No, he has a Beta (2.0l) swapped Accent.

But even I have beaten a ZX3 in our Accent 1.6l.

^Me too. And with my Auto.

The best part is the ZX3 is a buddy and he can't drive a manual for s**t.

He shifts way too early.

But still felt good to take down a car with a bigger engine... tho the 2.0L Zetec isn't known to be a beast :P
