Default Destroyed a Modded protege

I took on a modded mazda protege EX modded with I/H/E and a short throw shifter

we started from a standstill..we both peeled off the line..but the protewge lost some torque after shifting into second..i peeled faster but gained speed faster, the close gear ratio's of the alpha helped dramatically.

I floored the beta for all it had and i was pulling away from the protege very quickly..all the way until 100MPH..by then he was 2 and a half car length's behind me..

but the dissapointing thing is that the beta kept cutting off at 100MPH almost as if it being starved of fuel or something..
i take it need to do something about increasing fuel right?

cutoff at 100 MPH in 5th and i still had 1000 More RPM's to play with.
Dammit!!

there motors are just the mazda FS 2.0 dohc. sounds very comparable to us, but not really. the powere is there like our beta's.

hell, i raced a 2nd gen probe GT that was at the chicago meet yesterday, and is had the v6 (2.5, the non GT's had the same 2.0 as the protege you raced) and my beta powered tibby DESTROYED that v6 probe.

anyone who was at the hyundai meet n chicago yesterday knows the black probe im talking about

I raced that thing right there (notice the toy car, these pic's where making fun of the place that sold it before I raced him). 2.0 5spd I/H/E. The funny thing I wasn't really even in the race at first. It was that vs. a civic hatch with the SOHC vtec motor swapped in. The civic beat it, then it was passed by a DOHC saturn with an auto I/H/E, then before I even got into third my elantra passed it. I had started 3-4 car lengths behind everyone else. LMAO. SOOO funny. I thought maybe the kid messed up. So they try again. Same thing but this time he hit the brakes before I could pass him.

i think the protege i raced had a severe symptom of loss of backpressure

the protege had no high end power whatsoever

i need to fix this fuel-cutoff hesitation at 100MPH though..it's driving me crazy.

right at 100MPH..i can hear the exhaust backfiring
