Default Lost to a Jetta

a fellow in a 1.8T golf wanted to race me after hearing about a tiburon swapped accent

i told him i didn't want to cause my car wasn't fit for dragging..at the moment.

my car is still cutting out like crazy at 80-100 MPH and the clutch doesn't like the beta's monstrous torque.
my action's are a high flow fuel pump..either walbro 255PH or one from a 03 EF sonata and the SFR adapter kit with a fresh factory beta ecm from greenleaf auto recycling.

we went frop a startin stop ansd we both gun it..we're pretty much head to head until my car cut's out again...i'm cursing and mashing the gas pedal but the car won't listen..****in alpha ECM!!!

so i lose to him because of a mechanical trouble..but it's not a real loss..
at least his buddy in a black focus zetec 5-speed took me on after him..destroyed the sucker.

so here are my planned mods:
short shifter
new clutch
new fuel pump
SFR Adapter kit with beta ecm
new "used tires"
4-2-1 headers
2.5 inch high flow cat..new flexpipe
aluminum pulley..
i might be pushin aroudn 149HP

if anyone has these items..i'd appreciate if you could sell me some..i dont' need spankin new part's.

well, you could say that but it's just that my accent fuel pump and ecm hate my beta.

new fuel pump, beta coil packs and elantra ecm with SFR adapter will hopefully fix it.

man. open your ears/eyes. it has nothing to do with your fuel pump/ecm that your car is cutting out at 100. coilpacks... possibly. all the other beta guys have accent fuel pumps and there are alot of us with 1.6 ecms.

Okay..ryan...i'll take your advice and order a pair of new beta coil packs then

if some of you say that the alpha coil pack connector's will fit the beta coil packs and if they start right up..I'd be a happy man.

i said in another post that they DON'T plug up right. they have to be rewired. im using the alpha coilpacks on mine with no problems because i didn't feel like spending the 10 minutes to rewire.

it also depends what year the coilpacks come from, wytch's coilpacks (2003) have different plugs than the beta packs that came with my 2002 motor.

also. i don't know how i can make this any more clear. if you have the kind that will plug up... YOUR CAR WILL NOT START just by plugging them in. THEY HAVE TO BE REWIRED. 10 minute job.

1. before unplugging alpha packs. mark each wire according to what number is on the packs.
2. cut off the connectors but leave enough wire sticking out to splice them back on.
3. install beta coil packs
4. plug connectors to packs.
5. splice the wires back to whatever coil they belong to.
