Default lost to a b16 EF

damn, this losing streak is making me pull my hair out

i raced a primered EF civic with a B16a...we both take off from as start and for a few second's i'm head to head with him..then as soon as i hit 3rd..he pull's slowly away from me..a car length ahead..

we try another run, this time i clutch drop at redline..good half car length gain but as soon as his vtec rev's over 7000 rpm while my car only makes max power at 6000..he pulls away from me by half a car length

i need headers and a BetA ecu DAMMIT!!
his higher revving engine was the cause of my defeat..

well, at least he didn't pull away from me completley.

Doesn't that B16A have 160hp?

At least you gave him a good run for his money.

thrids where honda's usually take us. don't feel bad. if you dont have him by a car or two in first and second then you're pretty much done. ef's are light as hell too; tell him to add another 200-400lbs and go again.

tak, just go ahead and get a small boost project. I promise you with 10 psi running, you can spank cars effortlessly. I'm going to be buying a 1998 x3 beta swap soon, I will swap in the korean valeo clutch ($800) i know its expensive, but they say you have to pay to play right?? haha. And I'm going to mild- street build the engine. I will eventually go all out and drag the car on weekends. I think 10 psi gives about 190whp. I'm not sure, but that is my guesstimate. Also go with your goals. If you buy headers, remapped beta ecm, and others..... think of the kind of gains you will get. With turbo you're guarenteed power and lots of it.

i'm in the planning to start a budget boost kit

but what do i need?

here's what i know
re-drilled dsm turbo manifold with 14b turbo wth internal wastegate
290cc injectors
safc
pipes, and clamps and hoses.
small intercooler
walbro 255ph fuel pump

if i'm at a budget Limit of $400..will this be doable?

what recommendations do you have?

i can recommend that you save your money. Save up to $2000 - $2,500. That can easily get you going on a really decent budget project. just take time finding the parts you need.
