Default Drafted a modded GS-R!!

was on my way to to to buy some stuff for my oil change..

a few yards away i see a black lowered DC5 Integra with a flat black job and a fart can with factory tails.
he was pulling out of a driveway and into the road..a tight 2 lane 1-way road

i was going about 60ish and the guy slapped it into 1st and blarred on thinkin he'll outpace me..

I could've had touched his nose since his vtec was takin forever to engage..
but i tapped the brakes and decided it draft him..

when his vtec kicked in..i was at around 5800 RPM..i was floored and i saw the DC pull away but only so faintly..like it was going 2 mph faster than me.

i was about a carlength away from the integra..

so we engage in a bit of a lame Togue action and i chased the guy for all the faith he has in his B18C

the guy could never pull away..everytime he entered and exited a mid speed corner..he braked a little..which made him under the ideal RPM range for his VTEC..which caused him to Shift which take's time..i was however, enjoying the beta's flat torque curve at 4500 RPM..i never had to shift as much as he did..the torque of the beta handled it all..

we were going at almost 94 in a farm road...the guy was wise and tapped the brakes at corners which looked too risky due to Tendancy to snap oversteer.

in the end..i was still stuck to his tail like i was tied to his car.

The extra sound deadening in my hood made the beta revved ever so smoothly and the baffle defintley helped to up some torque in the upper revs.

If his car was a modded GS-R..then i have no problem in beating a stock GS-R

what a day!!

also...
I currently have 15's on the car with decent tire's on them..not the suicidal worn kumhos.
I work at goodyear during the day and dominos by night so i get to help myself to the tire's that are in the dumpester..found some awfully good one's too..also found some Dunlop D101 direzza's with more than 1/4 inch of tread left!!
a set of Bridgestone 195/55/R15's and a pair of goodyear Eagle RS-H's

Not to be rude or anything, but get the facts straight... A DC5 is an RSX not a GS-R. A DC5 has a K20 not a B18C. If it was a GS-R it was a DC2. I have one and I can tell you that he wasn't driving good or it wasn't a GS-R.

My GS-R will run my V6 Sonata day in and day out. The Sonata has much better torque so it can pull a bit better from a roll and go, however in the long run the GSR is faster and handles SIGNIFICANTLY better.

It was probably a LS with a young driver...

I'm sorry...

But, I agree w/Sonata. I mean, I'm sure your Accent isn't stock, and is tuned pretty nicely, but there's not enough mods on your list to even match a stock GS-R. Granted, they're not low-end torque beasts, but the high end is amazing in DC2's. I've driven them, and I was oddly amazed at how much power it had. I never really pushed my Talon too hard, but when me and a buddy went head to head w/his Type-R, it'd be close until my turbo reached it's peak...

Why do you think it's a GSR Tak? Most are just LS's. The LS Integras are nothing to write home about. I have beaten a couple myself. Also, you can never trust the badging. There are a lot of GSR (or Type-R) badged LS's running around...

Even if it was a Beta, the GS-R DC2s come stock w/180-190hp stock... That's all high end power too, especially w/the VTEC kicking in at 4800+ rpm. They're fast little budget cars, and a typical n/a beta wouldn't beat it in normal settings... That's all bench racing though

my mistake..it was a 3rd gen DC integra.. but i din't know the chassis code

i'm not saying i beat him but i gave him a embarassment of not being able to pull away from a hyundai..

i would never consider that a race..doing that on a risky 2-lane road with medium speed corners

just because i made a mistake don't mean i have to be showered with corrections..

i like reading your stories but the one thing i dont get is

how does sound deadening make you beta rev easier?

My friend in his stock Integra with a B18 (Not sure what model or engine varient) only ran high 15's. So I think Taks story is totally beliveable.
