Default Scion tc...

i dont know much about them; how fast they are, if there suposed to be quick, who knows...

i was waiting in line at a toll plaza when a manual (i could here him downshift) tc pulled up in the toll next to me. we managed to leave at about the exact same time. we were real close up through third gear. the whole time i was pulling ever so slightly ahead of him. at around 85 there was a car ahead of me so i backed off, but by fourth gear i had his front at my rear bumbper. i really dont know if this is good or not, but i havent "raced" a car in a while so i felt id throw it out there.

any opinions on the tc?

if yuo were racing froma roll, i'd say you'd have a good chance of beating him,

the 2AZ-FE camry engine in Tc's aren't that great when revved to it's redline..

I'm confident i can take on a manual tc with my beta accent..

the scion weighs just about 1000 more lbs than the accent though.

I dont know how you can dare to race in FL. I went last month to FL and after seeing so many undercover police cars after something that happens at a gas station I can't stop thinking how risky is to race there.

you have nooo idea how many cops there are down here. not just UC's, of which there are a ton, but marked cars everywhere. south florida has one of the largest police concentrations per capita in the whole united states. you just have to be very attuned to whats going on around you down here. thats why i dont really race anymore, but we were coming out of a toll plaza and i could see that there were no cops.

tC's are bascially rebadged Celicas, just not as aggressive looking. They have a very large aftermarket base, even surpassing the new Hondas but a lot of the aftermarket support comes straight from the factory. I mean, getting a TRD supercharger that still complies with warranty and have it installed @ the factory and NOT have to worry about it, GENIUS!

They're good solid cars, comfortable, and have all the neccessities, if not a little more. Do a little research, and test drive them and oddly enough, you'll like them. There's a reason why there are Scion clubs, and why people drive the ugly xB's. They're actually REALLY comfortable and get awesome gas mileage *^^*

No way in hell they are rebadced celica's they share almost nothing in common other than being 2 doors and toyotas.

Celicas are light as hell with 2zzge/1zzfe/ engines.
The TC used the avensis chassis and was fitted with 2.4 camry engine.

i hardly consider the tC to be a sport's compact..

it's nothing more than a teenage MTV i-Pod generation 2-door corolla with a camry engine that's only good for grunt..
it's also heavy thanks' to it's bulk engine, panaramic glass roof, and ton's of sound deadening all over, and ton's of equipment and options to stack up the pounds.

it'll never be as good as a civic or GTI..

The celica will alway's have a place in my garage..
now THAT was a Sports Car...lightweight, high revving, razor sharp handling

after saying that about the celica, i can't believe the tC with's it's soft suspension, family grade 4-banger, and chunky GVWR is the celica's replacement.
