Default Car or driver?

What's the more important thing, HP/torque or driver ability/courage? Let's assume we're talking about a higway race through light traffic, or anything similar.

I got my opinion on this but I'd like to hear yours.

You'll get a bunch of people doing the parental lecture about racing in "light traffic" for posting something like that here.

I keep my opinions to myself.

That depends. If the cars are of similar power, the better driver will win. If one car is more powerful, then even the best driver can't make up the difference.

BTW, racing on the street (especially in traffic) is not safe and just stupid. Please keep it on the track.

This is my opinion.

Civic SI 2006(Poor Driver) vs Hyundai Tiburon V6(Good Driver)= Civic gets owned

Mustang GT 2006(poor Driver) vs Hyundai Tiburon(Good Driver)= Very Difficult for the Tib to win.

Everything's relative. A great driver in a Yugo vs. a horrible driver in a (fill in your dream car here) and the Yugo wins. As the cars get closer in terms of performance the driver ability differential necessary to win in the slower car gets to be less and less.

driving is important in quartermile as the launch has to be good and gear changes has to be fast and presice. Of course the best driver in the world can't do miracles with stock accent in quartermile.

Forgot to mention. Racing in traffic is not safe, and I am against it, and I never do it, and I don't know anyone who did it because those people are not my friends.
