i'd like to thank tim(wanvaldez) for his help giving me some competition on sunday at the cumberland autox.
With my final run of the day I was able to clip off a 55.1 second run to tim's 55.5
Hopefully this will be a routine competition between the 2 of us. It was great having another accent to compete with.
I look forward to you getting some more camber and seat time.
I will have to make some changes to the rules once the x3 is back racing. We might have to go off of pax times then. As of right now the cars are pretty close in their state of tunes. I have more suspension work and wan has more power and the advantage of a manual transmission.
Anyone else in the dc/va/md/wv/pa region that would like to join the competition, feel free to email me and i'll give you a schedule of the autoxs i'll be attending this season. If time and money permit i'll be autoxing almost every sunday this summer. I'll be racing with national road autosport, wdcr-scca, capitaldrivingclub and autocrossers inc.
bring it on!

tim should have shown up at frederick on sunday I ended up getting close to 20 runs around the short course at harry grove, more experience for me, the next round of the cup is gonna be mine.

well I now have the silver car back in action
its not turbocharged anymore but still fast
so my invite is still open to anyone in the area that wants to come out and challenge me
I had the pleasure of racing with a tiburon on sunday at fedex field with wdcr-scca
I was very happy with how the car performed first time out in a long time. I didn't mind not having the turbo on there, considering I was still getting inside wheelspin coming out of turns. I will have to do something about the suspension soon since the ksports on it have seen better days. I will try to get some updated pics up soon.
Next race is at cumberland airport this coming weekend.

well i'm going to consider this my blog for my 2008 autocross season since I keep updating it.
i ran with nationalroadautosport at cumberland airport on sunday the 8th. It was hot as hell and I got sunburned only on the back of my arms(ouch). I ended up 65th overall out of 95 cars and second to last in class. Pax kills me since i'm in street mod so I drop to 76th overall. The course was fast as usual with some really slow turns in the corners. I easily got into third gear(roughly 65mph) in the faster sections and had to downshift into first for the really slow stuff. The slow corners are where I really missed the turbo. I had to cool off the tires every run because of the temps. I ended up with 36psi front 30psi rear with a good bit of oversteer in the slaloms. The tires are getting old and losing grip and I still need to do something about the ksports on the car. Overall I think my day went well. Compared to the lc the x3 is a handful to drive hard.
Next event i'll be racing is july 6th right up the street in frederick for cdc's test and tune day. I will be spectating at the dc prosolo national tour on june 22nd.
hope to see some people come out to race with me in the near future.

well I figured I would update my autocross season blog and tell everyone how the last race went.
I ran with cdc over the weekend at harry grove stadium in frederick. The courses are always small because the lot it small but they are fun courses that overlap a lot.
I'm still getting used to the x3 in its current state. The suspension is really bothering me but i'm learning how to drive around it.
The course was an oval with a short slalom in the middle with a figure 8 built in ending with the same short slalom.
I was getting the usual right front wheel spin coming out of tight corners but drove through it. The car felt really balanced without the typical oversteer that I get in the slaloms. I was running the v710s at 37/30 front/rear. It took a run or two to get the tires up to temp before they stopped sliding so much.
I was running in the high 43 second range in the morning runs and dropped in to the low 43 seonds range in afternoon with a 42.88 that would have been my best run of the day if I hadn't hit one of the last cones on course. I ended up with a 43.22 as my best time. FTD was a 39.7 in a very nicely prepped ASP S2000 with a very good driver behind the wheel.
I'd like to get the other ksports on the car and it get it corner weighted and aligned again with a smidge less front camber and some toe out in the front. I also had some rub on the rear longitudinal links so i'm going to have to run the small spacers I have at the next event. I think i'm running a little too much camber in the front right because that is the wheel that locks up first under braking and spins first under acceleration. My last alignment showed a little over 3.5 degrees on that wheel which was about all I could get but might be too much. The front left was closer to 3. That is what I get for going for the more is better theory of things. Once the new(different) suspension is on i've found a shop that will corner weight the car and give me a good even race alignment.
Well the rest of the season will be spent getting more seat time getting somewhat used to the car before I go an ruin everything on the offseason by switching classes to fsp.
Next event is dc region scca at fedex field on the 13th. I placed midpack in street mod last time out here so i'll see if I can do a little better or probably worse. After that i'm back in frederick for the 20th and cumberland regional airport on the 27th.
Hope to see some people out there.
