Default Gear shift knob thread size

I'm in the process of making up custom shift knobs for my 2003 6-speed Tib. I have been using epoxy to make up the threads, but I am not happy with its durability.

The thread size is close to a metric 10mm x 1.5 (standard--but not quite. (A 10 mm x 1.5 bolt will thread into the knob; but a similarly sized nut won't thread onto the shaft--due, no doubt, to the the malleability of the plastic knob threads.)

Does anyone know what the exact size of the shifter shaft thread is? Is it a typical size or is it unique to this application?

I'll have pics of my knobs up soon and may offer them for sale if there is interest.

Thanks.
