Default enlighten me please

hey, im new here and im looking into buying an 04 tib. YES, i did a search first. I did some browsing and it seemed to me that the common tib problems are the paint and the clutch? Am i correct with these two and if so, what exactly is the situation regarding warranty, correcting the problem, etc. Have the problems been addressed by hyundai? Are there any additional problems i should know about? i plan on getting the six spd gt.

and although im mainly into motocross racing, i wouldnt mind showing people up on the street so can anyone tell me how the 2.7 tib fairs compared to other cars such as eclipse, v6 stangs, etc. any information would be greatly appreciated and i hope to become part of the tib family. thanks.

Well, I've never had a prob with my clutch or paint for that matter...though I'm sure later on I might have probs. There is only 30K on my car. There is only one issue Hyundai has addressed and that is something doing with the brake lines?...Is that right you guys? Anyway, that was recalled and I have yet to have that done though.

As far as showing peeps up on the street, don't plan on too much winning. The V6 Stangs aren't fast anyway, so what if the GK can beat them (it can). Most V6 Eclipses are shiftronic which gives you the advantage, I've beat them many times...even slightly modded ones and I'm stock except for exhaust (just mufflers...does nothing). If you run across a 96 or so Eclipse GST or GSX, don't expect a win. You can beat most the ricers however which is a good thing...

no, well i know that the tib aint a hot rod and i dont care if i cant beat any real race cars cause i have my dad's vette for that. I do think the tib is an attractive car and i just wanna make sure it has some muscle to back up those looks.

So there is a definate clutch and paint issue? Hyundai is not aware of this? There may have only been one recall but there wasnt any update's on the 04 model compared to 03? Sometimes they improve things without necessarily having a recall.

All i know is i have a blazer with 320k miles on it. Im keepin that truck to haul my bike, but i wanna car to zoom around town and for pickin up the ladies. any more replies would be great. thanks

The clutches are not the best on the GTs.. there have not been amy problems with the i4 clutches. It depends on the dealer you take it too id say about 80% of the clutches have been replaced under warranty.

On the GT 2 recalls so far 1) the ECU has to be updated due to a CEL from the o2 sensor 2) the brake line needs a fastener.

I have a 03' tib with only 2500 kilometers, the only problem is the fact that it will only go into reverse easily about 50% of the time..the other 50% I got to fight it. I only have the 2.0 and I have no problem with the V6 Mustangs, The only thing that I want to do is race civics and I havent been able to find one that wants to go yet, Its not fair

ok thanks. so i assume that these recalls have been corrected on latest production GT's? As in, if i buy one in two months, the problems will be corrected from the factory?

ok, so power seems to be good enough. Now whats with this reverse thing? have u taken it to the dealer to find out whats up? could it be attributed to the clutch somehow?

Also, as i said before, my truck has 320k miles and runs great. Doesnt even burn oil. How do these 2.7 seem to be holding up? You think ill get atleast 200k outta one? thanks for all the replies

so do u think the I4 has a better clutch?, or just that the I4 is getting less strain due to the smaller engine?

crap, i love the Tib, but a clutch isnt exactly a minor thing. thanks for all posts so far.
