Default Knock on stock v-6 6speed normal during warm up?

Test drove 6 speed today and dealer told me that small knock was normal on these cars until they were warmed up. I've driven an automatic that didnt do that. So is this normal or were they just shooting me bs? Thanks in advance

Gee...that doesn't sound Normal to me! Mine doesn't "Knock" when cold or warm. If I were you, I'd look at another Tib and leave that "Knock" for the Hyundai mechanic.:

Is it a knock or is it the lifters tapping?

The slight ticking or tapping from the lifters could be normal, knocking is not.

Did the knocking/tapping sound go away after the car warmed up?
Did you ask to drive to see another V6 Tib to see if it did it too?

After it warmed up the knock went away. It was definately a knock though, not just tapping. I wasn't going to buy the one I drove. I was driving it only to get a feel for the 6-speed. The funny thing was the dealer explained it was from the fact that the V-6 had a deeper oil pan than the 4cylinder. I felt like laughing. Even though I had no plans on buying this car(was going to order one). I was still curious about this especially concerning the new engines.

My lifters will click for a few seconds at intial start up, in the 2.7.
I have found that if you let it idle for a moment or two after stopping for the evening it doesnt do that.
I am also thinking of changing from 5w30 to something a little more normal like a 10w30. Its not really that big of a deal to me. Mamasan (previous car) did that for 187,000 miles without a problem.
