The more correct term is "water heated".

The coolant lines run through the throttle body to keep it warm enough that the throttle won't stick in cool climates, so it's actually warming up the throttle body and the air going through it.

Correct, the coolant lines are actually there to keep the TB warmer for the cars sold in colder climates so it won't stick. Most members end up disconnecting those lines in hopes for a small gain. I dn't know if you gain much power from disconnecting the line but it is free to do it and you sure as hell won't lose any. All you have to do is pull the lines off and use one to loop it back in to the engine bypassing the TB.

Seeing that you live in TX, I would say it is safe for you to disconnect it.

i had no idea. i might bypass it later. my car is starting to have minor drivability problems. it doesnt get cold down here. let me put it this way, in SA, when it gets 20 degrees (above zero) we shut down highways and schools. the city looks like a ghost town.

there is also an optional Big Bore TB avail...you wont have to worry about running into the coolant lines.

Something I was thinking about a while back was plumbing in a N20 or CO2 line into the TB coolant connection. Ya know turn the heating into cooling. I never got around to doin it but I think it would be worth a few HP...

I was thinking the same thing man. Or run a AC line to it or somethin.

Bad idea for a couple reasons.
1) It will be a waste. For the cost of what it takes, you won't get enough hp. Plus you will be wasting a constant flow of nitrous or co2 since there isn't w a way to recycle it. All this for a 1-2 hp increase for only a couple seconds when you could get a 50+ hp increse by using it the way it is meant to be used.
2) The reasons the lines are there are to prevent the TB from freezing. Although most climates in the US don't have to worry about it, they still have a purpose. Now, think what could and probably would happen if you shot sub zero air through those lines.

Again, not a good idea.
1) as stated, you risk freezing
2) Even if you get 1-2 hp, you will lose that and more from running the a/c compressor.

On top of what Auto has already stated. Hyundai intended the TB to run at a decently warm temperature, thus the reason for the warmer. Now if you were to run something cool for a prolong period of time, it stands to reason that it could in fact be harmful for the TB.
