Default fyi airbags

Im not sure if its been brought up yet, but whomever has a v6 tib with side airbags be careful. i was driving down the roadway hit a really hard road marker and spun my car. in the mist of spinning, the side airbags went off. i stopped, the car undamaged. the dealer said this may happen if the computer gets smacked really hard when the ignition is on. the computer is under the center console by the storage pocket. good luck yall.uzzled:

Yeah, but I would think deploying airbags without being in an accident would be a defect. :??:

Hopefully you didn't tell them you hit a bump hard because they may use that to try and get out of fixing the problem.

damn, now Im worried that closing my door will be hard enough to hit the sensor and blow my airbags. If this is a defect, I hope Hyundai fixes it soon

this is the 2nd time ive heard of this..and it was cause people hit bog holes....my friends car was lowered quite a bit...is yours?

its located on the out board side between the seet and door.

and I've seen no problems where they just blow out w/out an impact.

Yeah, but some of us live where the roads are sh!tty and can't always avoid big holes or bumps.

Well, there is no way they should be able to say the bolt ons had anything to do with it unless somehow you had sone electronic added that somebody was foolish enough to tap in to the airbag power. LOL

So, what did the dealership say? Ar they fixing it?
If not, and insurance covers it, then I would just take the check and buy aftemarket seats.
