Default Cat or No Cat? (Header question)

I am planning on getting headers for my 04 tib and was wondering if i should go with the race version (no cat) or the regular version with the cat. Down the road i plan on supercharging, and i live in Florida (so i dont have to worry about the emissions). I was wondering what the difference is between the so-called "race" version of the headers and the regular headers.

do us all a favor and just use a high flow cat...modern day high flow cats restrict so little that you wouldn't even notice. plus it allows our environment to last a bit longer

if your worried about the enviroment..then dont install the headers...or anything aftermarket..... know what I mean...

with the cats..the high flow will keep some of the noise down....I wold recomend a cat..there really isnt a big gain between the two.....not enough to make me want to run no cat.

I think he is asking if he should buy a header that has the cat (or pre-cat) attached to it. Not if he should completely remove the cat.

That being said, I don't think you have a choice at all in which type of header to get since I don't know of any with the pre cats. However, you should think about turboing options instead of supercharging since people have gotten better results on the beta using a turbo. But if you still want to s/c go for it.

BTW, all headers are not created equal and 99% of the headers sold on ebay for our cars is complete junk. We sell a nice one in our store, but it seems the hotshot header has recieved the best reviews and don't throw a cell.
