I-4 VS. V6 invoice prices, help me pick which one!!! please
So my dad used to manage my hyundai dealership, and I am getting an 05. I have a 2000 POS yellow tib, i'm so upsidedown im not even trading it in. I am able to get whatever I want from the place for 100$ above invoice. My question is:
Is the SE really worth the 6th gear for 2,500 more?? I was orignally going to get a GS for MSRP, but then my dad said he can hook me up, so I figured why not get a GT for invoice. However, I have not been able to test drive a GT 5speed, only the SE 6 speed and the GS 5 speed. I didnt really tell the difference in the power between the two (a little, but the GS was still pretty quick)
Is the GT or SE really worth the price, and how does it do on gas?? Im going to be buying one within the next few weeks, so I really need to pick what I want.

get the 5 speed GS and supercharge it....the V6 is a gas guzzler, and has alot of "mod problems" according to my dealership's service department. plus i think it would be a 2 door coupe to insurance rather than a sports coupe....

well, whatever I get, i'm going to leave it stock, since my dad's co-signing with me, and he almost had a heart-attack when I tried to mod- my rd2. As far as insurance goes, it will only be a 20$ difference between the gs and gt for just me on the policy, but my dad will probably insure the car for no more than 150$ through farmer's.

Get The Beta 5-speed....it's shifts feel's smoother than the work playky 6-speed,
and you won't get massive understeer typically found with heavy engine "V6" front wheel drive cars,
with the beta tib..you'll get more responsive cornering when modding the suspension and less wear on your tire's since the front end weight is a lot less tha the delta tib,
and beta's are more eaisier to maintain cause you won't need to buy 6 set's of plug's and wire's for a delta GK,

You get about a 5mpg better on the V6 vs the I4, not a huge difference. Not to mention, if you were to s/c the 4cyl GS. it is going to guzzle gas then too. :hmmm:
The weight difference between the Beta and Delta is next to nothing since the Delta uses an aluminum block vs the Betas Iron block. Not to mention, the V6 comes stock with a stiffer suspension. As far as buying 6 plugs and wires, come on, it isn't like you have to change them weekly or even yearly for that matter. Besides, plugs and wires don't cost that damn much money.
Especially if you are staying stock or close to stock, there should be no other choice other then the SE. Later if you do decide to do a couple mods, the V6 is much more responsive.

You're on crack.
The weight difference between the I4 and V6 is enough that it drastically affects how they each drive. The V6 pushes like a beast through corners while the I4 rotates smoothly. I can't remember the exact weight difference, but it's at least 100 lbs. Remember, aluminum block or not, you're adding twice as many heads, twice as many cams a MUCH heavier crank, larger transmission more intake manifold plumbing, etc etc etc.

Yes, I am on crack.
But everythiing I have heard put the weight difference at under 100lbs, infact I have read but can't find the difference is closer to 50lbs which with the stiffer suspension, should be compensated or atleast mostly.
The weight diference between a GT 5spd and a GS 5spd is only 71lbs total and that is for the entire car, not just engine differences.

4door gl's got a point there.
I'm concerned about the Delta's engine life since it's made of aluminum..and i don't know if the block's themselve's are the piston sleeve's or not but that'll play a role in engine life or compression,
Beside's..The Gk's an already heavy Coupe..laggin afer the competition cause of it's weight
blame the generous list of standard equipment..or"Frills"..frill's add weight..weight is bad..
weight affect's speed and handling..speed and handling are good..people like speed and handling
If a delta Gk were to be modded, like say turbo or supercharger..weight is being added to an already heavy car,
the only advatage about the beta GK is that there's more room on the engine bay for more fiddling around in
And I think a turboed Inline-4 tiburon is suitable competition for RSX's and Celicas,
cause a Family sedan grade V6 Losing out to a four-banger is embarassing
so much for size matters,
