Re: 2003 V-6 Tiburon Clutch and Pressure Plates, Flywheel
I took my car in one day for regular service and i asked them to check the transmission because it was 'shifting' funny'. Really a friend had told me that the clutches burn out really fast and i should have it looked at. The dealership replaced the entire transmission at no cost to me because they said there was a problem with the synchronizer rings. that was at about 12k miles. i'm at 20k miles now and have had no problems since. also my clutch had no problems and is still in decent condition (i had it re-checked recently). Though, if you swap out parts yourself or take it anywhere other than the dealership it's a void on the warranty. sorry to say it, but you're not likely to get re-imbursed for it unless Hyundai did the actual work and selected/installed the parts that are currently in there.
Oh, one more thing... i believe it's the clutch plate that's not covered by the warranty. It's considered a consumable like oil, gas, wiper blades, break pads, etc. It was in the small print on the sales agreement thing. I only know because i asked when i purchased my Tib. This was after the dodge dealer informed me of their 'clutch plate' policy. All other dealerships in town also listed that as a 'consumable' item.
