2003 Tiburon GTV6, Silver, 6spd, fully loaded with 88,000 miles.
This car has a load of miles on it. I test drove it and it was fine. I looked all around the car and it is in good shape by the looks of it. I was told it was used for highway use which is good but I can't be sure if that's true or not though.
They are asking blue book value on it which is a little over 12. I got them down to 10,900. Now, If I can get them to give me it for 10, do you think it's worth it?
I love the car alot...I just want to make sure I can put at least another 50,000 miles on it or so before it craps out.
I wouldn't be nervous because it is a lot of miles on a 2 year old car.
That pretty much supports that they are hiway miles.
I would be more worried about the miles if the car was older.
However, if you buy it, you better plan on owning it for a while if you finance it because once that car (as in almost any car) hits 100k, it takes a huge book drop and is almost useless because they are not financeable and you will be burried in it.
I would look on autotrader. I did a national search and found 26 Tibs under $10k several of which were V6 (some with 5sp and some with a 6spd) and all of them had less miles.
I am assuming that you are looking at a dealership shince that is where the book value is over $12k because private party value is about $3k less. (Also, keep in mind kbb and Nada is only a guide line, not gospel truth.) If this is the case, they probably have $3k profit in it maybe less if the car has been sitting, but maybe more if it is new. I would offer $9500 and see if they bite.

I agree 88K is a lot of miles" And i also think they have to be highway miles.Keep in mine i bougt my 2004 GT V6 6Speed w/only 175miles off the lot for $12.000 but i used cash! So i say shop around try carmax.com as well and ebaymotors and kbb.com
Good luck:evil:
I used to work at Capitol Hyundai dealership in Columbia SC so I know a little bit. 80,000 miles are highway miles but you can get the car a lot cheaper. I would offer no more than $9000

I like how people say "highway miles" like that makes the magical warranty fairy come back or repair fairy sprinkles magic dust on the car to make it not break. Then, maybe when you get ready to resell it, the price fairy comes by and brings you a sucker to buy it just like he did for the last guy that sold it to you.
Highway miles means nothing. Parts still move, parts still turn, and miles are miles. Sure, stop and go MIGHT wear some things out a little faster, but even then you don't know how the last guy drove it even if it was on the highway. Not to mention, all the roads he had to drive on before he got to the highway. More importantly would be the service done on the vehicle, and it is possible that a guy that drove 88k miles in 2 years didn't have enough time to do regular service and strenched the intervals a little (food for thought).
Considering you could find a Tib with almost half the miles, for about the same price, I would wait.
