Default a few questions for people who have intakes

the check engine light came on a few days ago so i took it in today, here is the cause

2155 PO171-(B1) SYSTEM TOO LEAN 1.0 FOUND CODE PO171-BANK 1 SYSTEM TOO LEAN. TRACED TO MASS AIR FLOW METER BEING TAPED INTO CUSTOMER INSTALLED COLD AIR INTAKE SYSTEM. RECOMMEND CUSTOMER REINSTALL STOCK UNITS, OR GET PROPER SIZE ADAPTERS TO INSTALL COLD AIR INTAKE ONTO STOCK MASS AIR FLOW METER.

basically they told me to return to stock and then they'll reset the check engine light. ive had the intake for a lil over 2 weeks and everything went fine and i used everything that AEM gave me in their kit, but after stuggleing, i made make a half inch cut into the rubber bands that connect the MAF sensor to the intake pipes then wrapped it up and clamped it down. my questions are what do they mean when they say adaptors and lean means that theirs more air than fuel going into the engine, and i heard somewhere that lean engines dont take long untill they go BOOM! and also if i disconnect the battery would i be able to reset the check engine light

my wife is sporting the aem cold air in my/her tiburon 2.7 automatic. only check engine light we have seen recently was due to a crack in some box relating to the fuel system. dont remember the exacts of it.

the aem intake has been nothing but good to us

Did you reinstall the MAF correctly... no really. There's an arrow on it that has to point at the TB.

Try pulling the battery cable and resetting the ECM.

well i took the whole thing out and reinstalled it, now the arrow points to the TB. i replaced the aem hose clamps i cut and didnt cheat this time. hopefully this solves the problem.

u guys may want to look at ur lower inlet pipes on your intakes, mine was rubbing alot against the hole through the frame it ran through, the battery and the horn ( round thingy) its being bolted down by a really long bolt that the bolt was digging into my lower inlet pipe.
