Default A bunch of questions...

Who do you think makes the best headers for this car? For exhaust I was thinking Greddy evo2, any other recommendations? And what are your thoughts on supercharger vs. turbo? Not sure about which routes I wanna take with my car.. Thanks alot... :

i know obx makes headers for our car, im not sure if there 4-2-1 or 4-1, for exhaust you have a choice between the greddy evo 2 and ark (which alot of people have on this site, its alot cheaper and works just as good.) for forced induction, theirs alot of super charger kits for the car, and like 1 tubro kit. i would rather go turbo cuz its not always on, i live in southern cali and gas is expensive.

To be honest. I have the Greddy EVO 1 and I love it. The Borla is also a nice more mellow sound but sounds great when you get on it, especially with headers. Headers = Hotshots right now. The RIPP Headers will be the best quality by far, but you don't want them unless you're going FI, or they won't help much until you hit higher numbers. If you go FI, I recommend S/C because they are better tuned for our V6. NextGen has a great Alpine kit out, and he knows more about our cars than Hyundai, but it's costly and you have to know what you're doing to work on it. RIPP's Centrifugal kit will be a easy HP bolt on, but it's still under debate on how stable the car is with it. Hope that helps...

I would stay away from OBX and SSA.-fitment is/was horrible on the install that I did. I will not put another set on.

Hot Shots are pretty good, I know fitment is good. (13whp and 20 ft pounds tq)

I dont know about the Ripp stuff..

On the SSA headers .........Hyundai fixer is right ....I got lucky that the set I ordered fit really good but they're just a little too close the the half shaft for my taste , so I modded that pipe, so unless you've got a really good mechanic installing them that is capable of mods , I'd recommend gettin the hotshots too....cuz their pipes are better spaced from the starter on the front pipes and the passenger halfshaft on the back header pipes

Thanks for the props! I just want to point out 1 small detail that isnt true. We did our dynoing with a BONE stock tib aside from our headers, a CAI, and a front strut bar.

See the video here:

http://www.rippmods.com/products/products_list_details.asp?menuid=3&productId=257

There are 3 videos. In one of them you can clearly hear the dyno operator shout 182.

The best pull is 184.6 whp and 191 ft/lbs of torque... with just headers and a CAI. That is a 32whp margin. If a CAI gets you between 10-12 whp (pretty common numbers) that means our headers add a whopping 20-22 whp on an N/A car... more than ANY other header on the market...and the FI gains are even more impressive....

hope that clarifies some things!

Also, if the jury is still out on our product reliability, it should probably be known that no Stage 1 SDS car has EVER had catastrophic engine failure... and that no Stage 2 car (which, keep in mind there are still only prototype stage 2 kits out there) has ever blown up except in the case where a bad tune/install was present.

Happy to talk about those incidents any time on AIM in real time: ichijin mikomi
