I've driven both ........I kinda prefer the 6 speed myself.Only because I get a better hole shot with the 6 speed trans....I'm not sure but I thought the 5 speed and the 6 speed were the same ratio 1rst gear ..........so it just might be a personal preferance, Hyundaifixer might know the tech diff on these two tranny's........but just the same I like the 6speed better

no, the gear ratios are different. the final ratio is shorter on the 6 and you will get quicker pickup in all 5 gears with the 6 speed with the 6th gear being longer and allowing more top end than the 5-speed.

i would go with the 6 speed myself based on numbers, but i havent driven or felt or heard any experience with the 6-speed reliability. i know the 5-speeds are tough but i cant comment either way on the 6

Thx on clarifying that bepp....I wasnt sure,.....I just know that I can launch pretty damn hard at thae track with mine .....I,ve broken 2 half shafts though. It seems like after 5or6 real hard launchs w/my drag radials is when I've had this problem....I think I'm gonna look into some custom made shafts....and Ahm....yer not gonna find a good clutch& flywheel combo for under $700 let alone $400(Fidanza flywheel apprx $330 and Stg 2 clutch <Spec> $389 apprx )
