Default The stock audio system in an 05 Tibz without the Infinity system

I just bought a 2nd hand 2005 tiburon without the infinity system. Everything is stock.

I have never installed a sound system before, so I am a bit edgy since the car is in great condition (and i don't want to damage anything), but I have read the Car Stereo Cookbook, if anybody has familiarised themselves with it and i feel i am up to the challenge of DIY installation.

All the info/tips I can get on the sound system setup and installation would be great, however;

Tweeters:

Where are the crossovers in the tweeters?
Are they built-in to the tweeters or separate?
Do I have to modify the existing holes if i was to install new tweeters?

Other speakers in general:

Does anybody know any specs on the factory speakers?
(perhaps the back speakers are two-way with a dome tweeter built-in?)

Head unit:

Some head units are tied in with essential components in the car. Will removing the factory head unit disable any features?

Amps/Crossovers:

Is there any stock amplifier anywhere, or are the speakers wired directly to the head unit?
Are there any stock crossovers anywhere, or are the speakers wired directly to the head unit?

Subwoofer:

If i was to install a subwoofer, which direction should it face?

Wiring/Installation:

Does anybody have a wiring diagram of all the factory components (including wiring gauges, etc) and/or an installation guide available to share (perhaps a crutchfield guide)?

Any other info regarding specs/installation would be a great help for a first-timer.

i will try to answer all the questions that you have but i am mainly familiar with the infinity system vehicles.

easiest is the subwoofer face it twords the rear of the vehicle so that the sound reverbrates off the hatch and in turn will sound better

the car has a factory amplifer stored under the rear plastic on the driver side under the rear speaker. it is junk bypass it

you can remove the head unit without affecting anything else on the car.

the speakers are 2 way with a non funcitional cone built onto the outer speaker which is junk they are ok but if you turn up the wattage they will fail

leave the tweaters alone they are great speakers and will hurt your ears with sounds like glass breaking (like in a movie)

and sorry but i don't have a wiring diagram anymore but i will look again tonight to see if i can find it

good luck with the stereo and if you have more questions directly related to the speakers try looking in the sounds and security section

would the non-infinity system have the amp near the rear speaker? Would the speakers be hooked up to this? (and which speakers?)

You would recommend changing the other speakers? I thought they sounded OK. You say the outer cone is non-functional? So these speakers are in fact hooked up as 1-way? Please explain.

If anybody can provide more info, that would be great

I have decided i will take this to newtiburon.com since the tiburon community seems more active and specific.

Thanks for the help
