after working 65 hours a week for the past few months, i think im starting to lose it. everything was fine until my car kept breaking, and i couldnt escape the stress of it. now i cant sleep, im lucky if i get 3 hours a night. ive become very irratible, and after busy hour at work, its like i snap or something, i have trouble talking, i move very slow, and i notice i dont blink at all. sure you might say, dont work so much, but i have to work. not because i need money, but its more like im addicted to work. when i have a day off i get stressed because i feel like they need me at work, or i feel like i have to make more money. and every time i take a day off work i feel super guilty about it. i just dont know what to do. is there any way i can get some sort of workers comp. due to illness or anything like that if i see a doctor, because i like my job, and all the people i work with, and i dont really want to risk getting fired or having to quit because i cant function properly. is there anything i can do, like getting doctor recommendation for going on vacation just to make sure i dont lose my job? first ill just try talking to my manager, and my parents too, hopefully they will be willing to help me.uzzled:

I was in a similar situation. My last job working for an airline, I loved it so much I was working 18-19 hour days. And it messed with my head, I mean I loved to be there, but I just didn't connect that I didn't HAVE to be there all that time. I have an addictive personality and am in the 12 step programs to prove it, so this started to concern me. Thankfully, before that issue came to a head, I was put on Paxil for something else and that helped a lot. What it did was basically level me off, help me focus and put things in perspective. But, see my post in this forum entitled "Paxil Withdrawl" to see the consequences of that.
I am certainely NOT an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but it seems to me that something is keeping you at work. And you need to figure out what that is and deal with it. Money, family, girl-friend, whatever.
Call in sick tomorrow. Take the day off, grab a good friend, and run all this by them and see what they tell you. That's what your friends are there for, so now it's time to lean on them for help. I hope you feel better. Take care.

i only have 1 friend i can hang out with on a regular basis, and hes helping me out a lot, but other than him the people here on this site always cheer me up somehow, if its someone posting some sort of cartoon or something that makes me laugh, or getting advice on how to do something, or take care of something. because of all of you ive been able to deal with some stressful situations, and i really appreciate all of it.

You know how you know you're not going crazy? Because if you really were you wouldn't be asking yourself the question. 8D Hit me on AIM if you need to talk. I'll be up for while. Screen name is in my profile. Take care.

if you openly talk to your manager about it i bet he would give you a temp. leave of absence....
it sounds like you are a hard worker and very dedicated... why dont you explore other carreer opportunities? there are so many employers looking for people that actuallywant to work....
