Hey Doc I got a couple of questions for ya. First can you become lactouse (sp) interalant over night??? I was wondering b/c I used to drink milk by the gallons and now when I drink it I get sick to my stomach and I cramp really bad. But I can eat cheese without any problems. Someone said it might be my gallblader. But then others thinks it's my apendenix(sp). B/c sometimes I get these really sharp pains in my stomach about 3 inches to right of my belly button like someone is inside poking my belly with a knife. What do you think???

i cant help you with your health problem, but your spelling, yes. lactose, intolerant, and appendix. actually, i heard of an appendicitis test you can do. press on the spot where it hurts, and then release it. if it hurts when you release pressure, its an appendix problem. at least i think thats how the test goes.

Keep the spelling lessons and post whorin out of Docs forum. If you can not post something to help in here then post nothing at all.
guilty, if you feel it is your appendix or appendics or whatever the fvck it is, you best see a doctor immediately. You do not want to take the chance that thing will burst.

If this problem has been occuring greater than 36 hours most likely it's not an appendicitis. If it's more recent than by all means get to an Emergency Room ASAP.
You could have become lactose intollerant, but it sounds like a little more is going on.
How long has this been going on?
How long does it last?
Is there anything you've done or taken that helps with it?
Anything other than milk that makes it act up?
Do you have any back pain or shoulder pain and if so, where?
Here's some things it could be:
Ulcer's
Gallbladder
Irritable bowel
Diverticulis
Appendicitis
Liver problem
Guys there is no need to correct someone's spelling. Most input as long as it's helpful and on topic is fine.
Sorry Guilty, I would have answered sooner, but I was at a convention.

I was able to drink milk up till about Nov or so of 1999 then after everytime I drank it. It would make me cramp really bad. The pain in my belly started about 2001 or so off and on it would hurt for a day then go away. Then it would come back not sure on the time or days in between attacks. Here is the main thing I can eat one thing and be fine then I can eat the exact same thing and be sick to my stomach for a day. I have noticed pain in my shoulders sometimes like someone is standing on them. They become real sore and ache like I've been working all day. It usually makes me real tired b/c the feel kinda heavy. I usually take prevacid that helps with heartburn but I still get a little case of sore stomach. I have acid reflux and hyneial herian (sp) so that may have a lot to do with it. Most people tell go and have tests done. I've had blood work done a lot and nothing ever comes out of it. So maybe I just need a better and more detailed test.
An upper GI and lower GI tests would be appropriate to check to see what's going on in your digestive tract, as well as, an abdominal ultrasound.
Gallbladder, Ulcers, Diverticulitis, and irritable bowel.
If pain is more behind your right shoulder that is associated with gallbladder trouble. Pain from diverticulitis and irritable bowel comes and goes. Ulcer pain generally you will have after eating.
A dietary change is highly recommended. Eating more fresh fruits and vegetables. Complex carbohydrates and high fiber.

Ok doc I found the results of my Upper GI. So I'll post them up maybe you can make some sense of it.
Barium suspension is given by mouth. Deglutition, the cervical and upper thoracic esophageal segments are normal. A short segment sliding hiatus hernia of 8cm length broad base is present with copious reflux occurring with patient supine and prone. There are no direct x-ray changes of active esophagitis, ulcers, strictures or narrowing. There is no delay in esophageal emptying when the patient is upright.
The stomach fills and distends readily, exhibits normal gastric mucosal pattern with active peristalsis and prompt gastric emptying into a duodenal bulb which exhibits moderate spasticity, mucosal prominence and changes consistent with nonspecific inflammatory disease; duodenitis. No duodenal bulb or C-loop ulcerations are present.
The barium filled jejunum and proximal ileum are normal.
Impression:
1. Short segment sliding hiatus hernia with significant reflux. Gerd is thought likely to be a significant component of the patient's current symptoms.
2. Active duodenitis (mucosal edema, Prominence); no active stomach or duodenal ulcers are identified.
Just wondering if you could put these in lamemans terms for me. Do you think I will be able to get FMLA for this. I miss a lot of days of work b/c of my stomach so I was tring to get FMLA so the company wont hold it against me if I miss a day or so.
Your hiatal hurnia is a hurnia that is coming from your stomach up (part of your stomach is sliding up toward and into the esophagus) just like when you get an abdominal and or hurnia into your testicular sack.
By having a hiatal hurnia means you will be irritated by heartburn (GERD) and discomfort alot, therefore you need to change your diet to fresh fruits, vegetables, and high fiber. Avoid foods that cause discomfort and the following foods as well: Red meat, Fatty foods, Alchohol, high sugar drinks, caffiene. If you smoke you need to quit, not only for your hiatal hurnia, but also for you overall health. By eating properly and avoiding certain foods you will live a much more productive life.
The Duodenum is located after the stomach. Your's happens to have spasms uncontrollable by the body. That being the case when you eat foods that irritate it like the ones described above you keep it in that state and it can be very easily upset by the added stress of everyday life. Again with this you need the above type diet.
If you eat properly FMLA shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks for the advise Doc. A have one more question what is a good stress releaver? B/c I always stressed at work b/c of the state things are in with the airline industry. Which in turn puts stress on my home life b/c everything as changed due to cuts in the airline industry. I already had to talk to the EAP people b/c of something I said to a supervisor. I just hate going there everyday and then I after to see these supervisors who think we should kiss their asses b/c they saved are jobs. But in reality we saved theirs by voting in this contract in. Everytime I walk in that place I just want to punch everyone in the face. Any suggestions? thanks doc.
Stress relief is found to be different for each individual. If you can remember back to something you've been able to do in the past to help with stress try that again (as long as it's legal ).
Sounds like anger management might be a good choice of help too.
Letting go of that anger and forgiving those who have hurt you or done things against you.
